A Complicated Business
#38
Marcus eyed the red demon-like creature, who had rushed back to the almost half drowned city to get some people out of buildings. The terminator picked up those who couldn’t get in the boats and nodded for those who could to leave when they could.

Marlin eyed the short haired metallic man “I.. I didn’t know.”

The metallic man eyed the feather hatted man and picked him up “Didn’t know what?”

“Why help me after what… I’ve done?”

Marcus was quiet as he turned “Look, i’m not a completely changed man. “

“In fact, I used to be a con.”

“Wait.. you?!”

“Like i said, the past is the past.”

“Yes, the very hero you are working with used to be on the wrong side of the same token.”

“Then why are you helping them?!” “Me!”

“It’s a matter of doing something good for once.

“Now, let’s get these people home.”

The old man and his dog were taking a while to get to the boat but as soon as they made it, the old man named Track and his dog, Chocolate felt the wind trying to blow them away.

The winds were picking up and it was getting chaotic. His leather coat was blowing in the windstorm and he didn’t want to stick around if he could.

Hellboy descent in the water mucked city was getting a little more annoying. However, he didn’t mind his trenchcoat getting wet.

“HELP!”

A small girl and her mother cried as they were on the top level of a flooding house.

“Hold on!”

Hellboy made his way throughout the house and swum through the rising waters as he ran to the top of the house. He grabbed them as he eyed the silhouette of Marcus and Marlin near the boat.

He hopped down and made a big splash “Come on!”

Marcus turned to Marlin and frowned “I’ll be right back..”

Hellboy stomped through the mud as the city kept filling with water. “MARCUS, MARLIN COME ON! This is the last of em’.

He wondered why Marcus had left his post.

“Why did you leave your post?

“Give me them!”

“Right.”

The terminator took the time to say “Come on, no time to waste, if that’s the last of them, we should either catch up with Captain America or Frisk.

The last time the man felt odd being friends with children.

“I don’t feel comfortable not doing anything here.”

Hellboy said “Marcus hang back with Marlin, you can handle that right?

“That’s fine.”

“I’m plenty good at keeping people calm and safe.”

Hellboy didn’t respond, he was already off to find Captain America and Frisk.

Marcus groaned and looked over at Marlin, who was trying to calm the folks.

The scene blurred to one you saw only during the apocalypse.

Marcus found himself staring while many people started to scream.

Problem is, he felt like he was staring at people back in his world that screamed for help.

Was there even a difference anymore?

Terminators… sugarcane high folks… heroes, the resistance, the villains- the power high mayor named Rando.

He silently compared differences here to his world.
