A Final Boss Awakens!
#17
Out of plain curiosity, his white, glowing eyes had slid down towards the golden coins as they clattered against the glass table. Immediately, sweat began to form on the tip of his forehead and one that he quickly covered with a rub of his bony hand. The faces that were on the coins had sent a massive chill through his body that was almost as bad as the one he got when he fought the human back home. It was just the way their eyes were emboldened on the metal currency, as if piercing into your very being with a hateful, maniacal gaze unmatched by any other living being in existence.

However, after some additional thought, he noticed that there was no other insignia anywhere on the surface of the coin. He did not make any real movements to indicate how he felt; instead, he stared at the coin, eyeing it very closely as if he was inspecting it under a microscope. In the Underground, all gold coins had one of two things on it: a picture of King Asgore Dreemur, young and powerful and kind fully displayed in a metallic portrait, or a simple big-letter "G" written in sharpie. It did not take very long for him to notice that none of the coins held neither feature (though there was a goat-looking person on one coin, the way he looked with his malevolent glare and cocky sneer was all he needed for him to ditch the idea that it was Asgore.)

His hands began to tremble a bit; he stuffed them into the pockets of his jacket. It was official, Desco could not be a Boss Monster. In hindsight, he didn't know why he hadn't gotten to that conclusion sooner. After all, the evidence was plain as day. No Monster in existence looked ANYTHING like the purple tentacle monster that talked like a child and yet held the knowledge of things only adults could know about.

So he was back to square one with the walking enigma that was the Desco. A wave of dread filled his metaphorical stomach.

He squinted as they exited the Emporium, the sun shining in his face. He tried to block the rays with his hand, only for the light to pass right through them. Sometimes he wished he had skin.

The city was relatively crowded now that he took the time to observe. 'Pokemon' of various different colors, sizes and genders were all walking along the glittery, pink-colored cobblestone road. Carriages full of unusually colored fruits and vegetables tumbled through the streets, small, child-like creatures rushing out to pick up any fallen food as the carts bumped up against potholes in the ground. Massive, wooden stands with multi-colored and stringy ribbons plastered upon signs; their peddlers shouted among the cacophony of the crowd, trying to sell their wares: YumYum Fruit, Gummis, Scrumpilicious Fudge-Mellow Chocolate, etc. It was a massive far-cry from the emptiness of the Underground; in fact, he couldn't help but stand there and blankly stare at the world around him, his senses trying to catch up to his brain to process all that was going on around him.

Thankfully, Desco was able to knock him out of his temporary trance with just one word: Papyrus.

"oh, he's not a bad guy, no. he's..."

He didn't want to say it. if desco kills him...

"he's a good friend of mine. i need to find him," he said, glancing towards the ginormous pink palace that towered over the rest of the city, "you said someone named sybil at the palace can help us find him?"

Then he heard the Prinnies. They weren't on his radar up until that moment and, like Desco, now that he knew they were there, he wished he could forget them. It was more just the way they sounded when they talked that grated against his bones, and not in the 'so-annoying-it's-funny' kind of way. More accurately, it was a 'so-annoying-you-want-to-kill-them" kind of way.

He turned his head to face one of the Prinnies, expression unchanging. He then brought his hands out of his pockets, placed the sides of his hands against his head before slowly bending his arms forward to make him look like a man at an airport directing an airplane to land with the glowing baton thingies' it was like that, only much more robotic and in a way that expressed his feelings perfectly. He normally would have just let them be, but the absolute LAST thing he wanted at that point was to have a bunch of surfer-dude sounding penguins try to convince Desco to keep him from just running off towards the palace while they were having fun. No, that wasn't happening this time.

"bruh," is what he said after a few seconds with his eyes closed. He slowly reopened them, "bruh. dude, uncool."
