What comes next [Completed]
#4
Leaving Coruscant, I decided to try my luck at exploring another verse. I had learned that each of the major verses could be accessed from the nexus, and that the nexus was a sort of hub of transport for everyone in the Omniverse. Heading out of the Coruscant gate, I turned to the right, and traversed towards that gate.

After that walk, which took longer than I thought it would but not as long as my original walk to Coruscant, I found myself standing in front of a gate with no guards in front of it. If my research was correct, this was a gate into the Deep, a verse made up of mostly ocean with a few major islands. I had been told there was a large Empire presence, both in the police force and in the Imperial Navy. I had also been told that it was the most beautiful of all the verses in the Omniverse.

I walked through the gate, and found myself having to go through another set of customs in order to get into Costa de Sol, the main city in the Deep. I began wandering through the town, and eventually picked up a tour guide at some point. I was shown many different monuments, as well as beautiful parks, a street that had a parade going in it of some kind, a gorgeous sandy beach, all in the warm sunny air that smelled of the sea.

I bumped into a little girl at some point in my tour, and I caught a glimpse of her face. She had long, shoulder length brown hair, and was paler than the rest of the people around us. She glanced up at me with a stone cold emotion, and brushed past me without saying a word. I had a moment where I considered saying something to her, but by the time I thought to say it, she had disappeared into the crowd around us.

I continued on with my tour, looking at different monuments and other various gorgeous parts of Costa de Sol, of which there are many. I couldn’t even begin to describe all the different things I saw in my brief tour, and I was told that there were many more, even larger and more breathtaking than what I had already seen. I finally finished it around the same area that I had started it, sort of close to the entrance to the city. I decided to explore more myself, and went to a park that I had wanted to see more of.

I sat down on a bench, and listened to the sound of the birds in the trees, felt the wind blow through my hair, and felt the sun’s warming rays on my face. This was a great place to be, why would I go anywhere else? I could spend the rest of my time sitting on this bench. At least until night that is. I’m sure at night it got fairly chilly, and would no longer be quite as pleasant to sit in as the day time.

I was in the process of dozing off to sleep when I felt someone tap on my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see someone standing in front of me. He was A few inches taller than me, and had a smile on his face. He had ghostly pale skin, brown eyes, and short black hair. He wore a white t-shirt and black cargo shorts, with a gun holster on his right hip, complete with a small black firearm.

I smiled back at him out of instinct. “Can I help you with something?” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a picture. He handed it to me.

“Yes actually. Have you seen this girl anywhere?” I looked at the picture. It struck me as familiar, but I couldn’t place my finger on where I had seen her before.

I handed the picture back to him. “I think so, but I don’t remember where from. I’m sorry.” He placed the picture back in his pocket. “Do you mind if I ask why you’re looking for her?” He frowned a little.

“I think she was involved in a robbery, but I’m not sure. We used to be in a group, but I kind of abandoned her and left to the Dunes.” He sighed. “I’m trying to find her and see if she did break in, and if she still has the items.” He smiled at me again. “Well, thanks for your time. I’ll leave you to it.” He started to turn away from me.

Before he could step away, I grabbed his wrist. He looked back, and I made room on the bench for him to sit next to me. “Please, tell me more about what’s happened to you. I don’t know much about the Omniverse or the people in it. If you could tell me more, I’d greatly appreciate it.” He seemed to start to pull away, before stopping, and sitting down next to me.

“What would you like to know?” He smiled at me, inviting questions.

A large amount of questions later, and at least an hour and a half, and I had learned mostly everything about his life in the Omniverse, from his arrival at the fountain, to exploring Coruscant’s underbelly, to fighting a cursed coin (long story), to helping with people’s problems, which is how he started investigating this girl that he used to be with. I learned that his name was Yukki, and the girl he was hunting was named Scarlet.

“So, tell me more about Scarlet.” I found him extremely friendly, and he seemed to be happy to answer my questions.

“Well, I met her on tier five of coruscant. It was a horrible place, completely corrupt with crime. Everyone there seemed to either be focused on destroying the Empire or killing everyone around them. My friend and I, Reuben, got in a scuffle with a few gang members, who Reuben ended up killing. Scarlet broke into a warehouse we were asleep in, stole my gun from me, and almost killed Reuben with it. I calmed her down, and we began talking. Well, kind of.” He seemed to fade out after that.

I pressed him for more information. “What do you mean, ‘Kind of’?”He sighed.

“Scarlet’s a mute. She can’t talk, and we don’t know why.” My face when cold. Oh my lord… I know where I’ve seen her before.

“I know where I’ve seen her before!” I exclaimed loudly, certainly drawing a few eyes from around us. “Do you have a map?” He said he did, and pulled out one littered with red circles and Xs. I pointed to the street I was on when I saw her. “She was here, heading this way. You should probably get going if you’re going to find her.” He thanked me, and quickly headed towards where she was last seen.

I laid back on the bench. He had been so kind, I was curious what was going to happen to him. I decided not to worry about it. If I was to know, then we would meet again one day. I went to a hotel and paid for a room for the night. I would decide where I went in the morning. Perhaps I would join a rebel group in the lower tiers of Coruscant. That seemed to be what interests me most out of what the Omniverse could offer.

I fell asleep quickly, and found myself in a dreamless sleep for the whole night.
