Most of the gates don't have security. At the Coruscant gate, there are just two stormtroopers standing sentinel on the Nexus side, but once you go through the gate you end up in a customs line.  In order to enter the city you need to submit to a thorough scan, and have your identity logged by the Imperial authorities.

What Ghidorah says is right for the most part - although there can be more than "only" two troopers at the gate, there's no specific number on this. The Camelot Gate does have some amount of security as well, with guards being stationed at the entrance. The other six gates have no security to date and can just be stepped through.
