First venture in a new land
#30
Ah ha, Celestia's concerns were validated.  There was in fact someone following the ship, although unlike what one might have expected they didn't seem to have hostile intent.  A hooded figure approached the boat, introduced himself as Revan Noctis, and asked to join them.  Celestia pondered for just a moment, wondering just how far she should trust this sudden arrival.  She quickly concluded that there wouldn't be much point in turning him away, as that would have made it much harder to learn about him, and in truth she and Veritas still didn't have anything worth pursuing.

“Yes, I think we can take you on board, if you're certain you want to come with us.”  It did seem suspect that Revan would be so eager to join them without knowing where they were headed, but that would only change things if Celestia though he was being fully honest.  As it was, she was already reasonably certain Revan was the one following them, and she'd prefer to keep such a person where she could see them over leaving them free to cause mischief out of her sight.

Celestia looked to the captain momentarily, who frowned in disapproval at the change of plans, but made little comment on it.  “She's can handle one more easily enough,” was all he said as he prepped the ship for launch.  It didn't too long, with the boat being as small as it was, and the captain being reasonably experienced.  Very soon the journey was underway, and the boat was travelling away from Costa del Sol.

Veritas appeared to be having some trouble with the method of travel, although he was able to address his own problems.  Celestia thought he'd be in for a rude awakening, at least in his early attempts, though she decided not to say so directly.  “In my experience, the more sophisticated devices tended to be even more uncomfortable,” she replied.  She'd seen her share of inventors touting some new contraption that was going to 'revolutionize travel', but would do so only at the expense of the travellers, even if unintentionally.  Celestia grinned.  “Perhaps that's a problem you can solve?”

As Veritas seemed to be overall alright, Celestia shifted her attention to their newest companion.  “Revan,” she said, “I'd like to know a little more about you, if you don't mind.  Are you a recent arrival as well?”  She truly didn't now anything about him, and this would be the perfect opportunity to learn.  There was very little to do on a boat in motion like this, aside from speaking to one another.

Revan wouldn't have too long to discuss his history however, as their destination was not too far away, and would only take a few minutes to reach.  Celestia found the island itself beautiful, but rather unimpressive for what it was supposed to contain.  It was covered with a small forest, and had what amounted to a large hill in the centre.  It was surrounded by a few smaller islands, but they were sufficiently far apart to post no obstacle to their boat, and otherwise they had no worthwhile features.

As the boat got closer to the island, Celestis started to notice a number of small structures across it, made of an ancient stone.  It wouldn't be until the reached the island that the truth would become clear, that these once made up a much larger complex, but it had long since fallen to ruin.  Most of them were simply unrecognizable debris, but there was one that appeared to be a large, closed doorway.

When the boat hit land, Celestia would lift off with a flap of her wings to come gently down on the island they'd reached.
