A Final Boss Awakens!
#7
The skeleton steadily leaned his head back further and further as he suck down every last drop of his beverage. He imitated a “smacking-lips” motion with his jaws. He let out an approving moan, relishing the taste.

*a little spicy…*

Spicy was putting it lightly, however; in fact, one could have been forgiven to believing they had accidentally ordered a “hot-sauce soda” of some description from how hot it was on the taste buds. It was enough to give him a short buzz, though, so at least he wasn’t going to go to sleep and then get kicked out for filling up customer slots.

He set the now empty bottle back on the table, glancing up towards some deer monster as he shuffled himself and his partner away from his general vicinity. He sighed, seeing no one else was even remotely close by. Seemed he was being a real party-pooper just sitting there, getting more and more drunk off the ketchup-flavored drinks and the tiny little mints that they served. Most every other patron of the Emporium had taken care to keep a fair distance away from him, preferring the tables closer to the doors or even heading onto the dance floor itself where they could not be bothered by him and his glowing eyes glazing over everything. He probably looked like a creep, which would have been funny if he just… didn’t feel like going to bed or anything.

He was just about to get up and go pay his rapidly increasing tab when something entirely new caught his attention. The doors near the front opened, briefly blinding him from the onslaught of light before revealing a quartet of individuals. He found himself staring as a waitress slowly marched them over to a table close by to him. He tried to remain discreet about it by flopping himself onto the counter, slightly burying his skull into his arms while leaving just big enough of a crack to peek through.

The leader of the group was probably the most odd-looking fellow he had ever seen, and this was in the same world that had people like Raal Deathwind as well some of the monster creatures or whatever they were he had seen in Ambrosia. She was young, not looking much older than around nine or ten, and at a glance, she looked human. The stout comedian, however, could tell even with the distracting neon flashes of light and the enveloping darkness that she was farther from human than even a skeleton like himself. Poking through bangs of purple hair that just barely melded with the lighter shades of florescence sparkling around them were sets of small, red horns. The horns in particular were an odd feature; not even King Asgore Dreemurr had red horns; hell, he hadn’t seen ANYTHING with red-colored horns in the history of anything. He merely shrugged at the thought.

Perhaps what was most striking, and what slowly made the monster all the more uncomfortable observing her, were the seemingly dozens of yellow eyes all over her body and purplish-dress. While it did not seem, to him, that she was watching him back, he still kept his eyes trained on her, participating in the fake staring contest he was imagining taking place in his head.

Eventually, she made a move. She turned back, looking directly at him. He immediately feigned tiredness, looking down into the hole he had created with his arms. He looked like a passed-out drunk in the need of removal, though this did not fool Desco for a second. He merely pretended to sleep, even letting out small snores to dissuade anyone else from coming near.

"Hello, would you like to be Desco's minion?"

Well, it almost worked.

He didn’t flinch; he kinda suspected it wasn’t going to work at all. Instead, he lifted his head up from the table, looking up towards the floating monster/whatever the thing was. That was what was so confusing about the creature. At least people like Raal and Alice held enough familiarity to be placed in particular categories. Raal was a skeleton like himself, so he could be a monster, and Alice held enough traces of humanity to be called human. Hell, even the inhabitants of Ambrosia, as varied and strange as they were, could blend in well with his fellow monsters back in the Underground. But this person? What the hell even WAS it? Best he could tell, it was an amalgamation of human and monster. A twisted combination of alien features that just didn’t belong anywhere. It was like something straight out of a science fiction novel!

A light-bulb ticked in his cranium. That… actually sounded pretty damn awesome.

He kept his smile on his face as he worked out the best way to respond to her question. It was rather direct and, like herself, incredibly strange, but he wasn’t going to pass judgment. It was probably just contrasting cultures and the shock that comes with it.

“oh, sorry, I was just… restin’ my head here. had a little too much to drink, hehe,” he said, burping as if to accentuate his point. He placed a cupped hand to his mouth. “but, uh, I have to give you a no-go on the minion stuff there, miss… what’s your name……? that just ain’t how I roll, ya know? Sorry if I was botherin’ ya or anythin’.”
