While his ally slept, the dark king who had formerly ruled the Crystal Empire was not sleeping. Revan thought he wasn't weak, when he had faced the trolls. Well, unfortunately he was wrong. His skill levels had been pathetic when he had combated them. It was time for him to get his hooves dirty and get some actual practice in. Magic was something that any prime could do here apparently. His efforts to teach Revan to make a communicator had been nothing short of pathetic. Of course there was also another matter. Without his skills his life was going to be in constant danger from any primes who saw fit to hunt him down and murder him. Throughout the night, King Sombra had practiced all of his moves with an obsessive determination that was unlike him. A couple of new spells had even been designed by him, Retaliatory Shield and Dark Crystalline Bash. But they weren't enough, on their own.

"You didn't make a communicator properly...Revan." said Sombra when he saw him. "You'd better head to the Pale Moors and from there we will meet again when my power is at a more acceptable level. You will explore and learn how to make a communicator for yourself during your travels. I must stay here and work on the defenses of this place. A man's home is his castle, and my castle will NOT be under-defended. I dislike having it so accessible to others, and so I will rig some defenses of some variety up when I have time. You will act as my herald in the worlds, going and hunting any dark magical artifacts you can find for me, Revan and reporting back in person unless you get a communicator."

The dark king was annoyed that he couldn't train Revan fully. Sure he had planned on teaching him initially, but now? Now it seemed like a lost cause and that meant that he didn't have much he could do for the young warrior. The warrior had talent, and King Sombra had planned on making him one of his knights, but chances are Revan might refuse. So what he needed to do was bring his own skills back up to the levels where he had them originally. Sure certain ones like his shadow form couldn't be obtained, but the dark overlord could adapt.   "We both have our own work that needs to be done. For you that is exploring and hunting down magical artifacts. For me that is learning how to use my magic properly, and getting stronger. My power is limited, you didn't see but a tiny amount of my skill. I was up all last night, practicing. I managed to come up with a couple of new spells."
