It’s like I’m walking through a great fog. The air I breathe seems almost … unreal. Am I dreaming? Am I asleep? The first prickle of frustration furrows my brow. Even that feels fake.

But maybe the fog is real? It’s sweeping towards me in a great wave. I hold my arms up and it passes over me.

In the fog I see visions of other fighters. Several men. A woman. They all look so … out of place. Crossed-over.

I know I’ve been here before. So why am I back here? Why is the fighting so quiet, like I’ve been deafened?

My hand passes through them.

I balk. They pass straight through me.

It comes back.

The great desert. The beast. It’s looming ahead. I dodge, I roll. It submerges.

It’s agony to recall. I don’t remember much. Just darkness. And pain. It … it …

I heave and nothing comes out. Of course it wouldn’t. I’m dead. I’m a ghost.
