A Light in the Darkness [Complete]

"Retreat! Retreat!" yelled Darkshire's infantry falling back from the endless hordes of the undead. They start to move out of the forest back to the trench line that was dug up in front of the west gate. Men started jumping back into the trench knowing that it is one of their only defenses they got left after losing quite a bit of men. From the sight of the fleeing soldiers, this made the commander on the horse have a grim look on his face and a heavy sigh. This made him unsure if they were going hold up at all from the overwhelming enemy but that didn't keep his spirit down.

"Hold the line! Don't let any of them come any closer! Defend this position at all costs!" screamed the commander over the sounds of war.

Ash with the wounded private on his right shoulder, was still running through the blood filled forest that was littered with some corpses mixed with them and the enemy. Some arrows whizzed right past them from the archers behind them that were taking shots on the ones withdrawing. Arrows piercing the living can be heard left to right from Ash's prospective especially their bodies hitting the ground and screams that managed to escape from their last breath. After running for some time now, he accidentally misplaced his foot on a big root, causing the two trip off a slope that was covered in dead leaves. Both of them tumble down the slope but luckily it wasn't big enough to injure one of them.

The two made a grunt after going down the hill landing on flat surface. They were couple feet away from each other but the private was further away from Ash. Footsteps can be heard above as the undead start catching up. Ash looks back at the top of the hillside seeing a couple of the living dead knights stand there looking down at them. This makes him grab his shotgun with his left hand and holds the weapon in both of his hands, aiming at the enemy. As he pulls the trigger twice, clicking noises were being made from the gun which meant he forgot to reload the weapon earlier.

He had no time to reload which the weapon was put back in it's holster. Ash gets back on his feet quickly then stumbles a bit over to the private which he tries to pick him up as fast as possible. While he was trying to get his partner off the ground, the undead start sliding down the slope towards them. More start popping above the foothill and following the others after Ash and them. They both were caught up and this makes Ash get into a protective stance over his partner with serious face of determination to fight off if he had to use his hands. As one begins to charge with his sword raised high and a powerful war cry while others did the same behind him, Ash can hear something incoming behind him which made him turn to see what it was. What was behind them was a streak of white fire that nearly hit Ash but luckily he ducked for cover over the young soldier.

They were missed by it and the streak hit the wave of the living dead instead, causing them to be engulfed with the fire and disintegrate into ashes. Ash gets back up and turns around from were the blaze came from. He sees the same brown cloaked female that he saw in the tavern earlier standing on a big branch of a tree holding a weapon that appeared to be a big scythe that was double-bladed with two of the blades attached together closely at the top of the staff. Her skin was pale along with her hair and eyes which were both silver. She stands there with her long weapon being held in the left hand which the blades appear to be emitting white fire off of.

Ash couldn't believe what just happened in front of them and how quick it was to take down group of baddies that fast. He stops thinking what just happened and focuses on the wounded soldier. The private gets picked up off the ground and is back on Ash's right shoulder again. Both of them start to get back on the move again and they still have the enemy on their tail. Ash begins to run towards the tree that the young female stranger was on but she swiftly navigates through the treeline that the forest was made of. She still keeps making the streaks of fire from her scythe attacking upon the enemy behind them. They still keep getting defeated by her move and makes her get the attention from the others which distracted them away from Ash and the private.

Finally, the both made it out of the forest and were the last to do so. Ash rushes over the trench and heads to one of the tents that was post to be a medic bay.

"I've got a wounded man right here that got hit by an arrow." said Ash after coming through the flaps of the tent.

It was filled with men that were wounded too which felt pretty crowded along with the doctors of the battlefield. They made a spot for the young private and asked Ash to set him on a cot bed. He lays him down and one medic out of the four hurries over to aid the private.

"Hang in there kid, I promise I'll put an end to this once and for all." said Ash with a determine look on his face then heads out of the tent.
