History: Karax was originally a Protoss of the Khalai caste. A master phase-smith, he understood the workings of the protoss's Khaydarin-based technology like no other.
Sadly, most of that technology doesn't work without Khaydarin crystals, and without a way to obtain more, his abilities are muted in the colonies. Still, Karax has learned to adapt, and soon found himself quite interested in all of the new ways Technology could be shaped in this alternate reality called "The Omniverse".
Karax found himself interested in going to windfall island soon after finding out about it's existence - the entire island and it's set-up reminded him very much of the old protoss voyages into uncharted space, colonies of brave Templar and Khalai working together to live in the harshest of terrain. This wasn't remotely as harsh a place to set up - but then, terrans were far more fragile, anyways.
For his part, Karax uses this island as a way to train his skills as an artisan, constantly learning and attempting to figure out new ways to make the people of Windfall's lives easier. In some ways, Karax sees it as his duty - the firstborn were meant to guide the lesser races, and as a frequent objector to the destruction of terran life, he views living on this island as a way to make up for some of the dereliction of duty he saw his people as committing during the great war.
For the most part, people tolerate Karax's presence despite his consistent social awkwardness and alien oddities. It helps that he is little drain on the Island's resources - as an Alien that survives entirely on sunlight and who pays for anything he uses, he's rarely much of an imposition.
Profession: Karax spends most of his time trying to improve town systems for water-catching, hunting, farming, and etc.
When he manages to make an innovation, he will sell the product - normally at a fairly reasonable price - to the relevant purchasers, before returning to work on his tinkering.
He also, however, has made a side-business to fix sensitive gadgets and devices at a low rate. Ironically, this bit of business is what Karax has become most known for among the town, particularly among children, who will frequently ask Karax to fix broken toys or games for them - as Karax's rates are fairly cheap for Windfall Island, he remains the only repairman in town who can be hired on a child's allowance.
Possessions: Karax owns a small shop on the outskirts of town, in a particularly inhospitable area. It is notable for it's open-topped ceiling, protected by a weak force field Karax installed so that he may avoid the rain while still absorbing nutrients. The building itself is built with the golds and blues of the protoss people, but is made of far less sturdy metals. Karax also owns a bunch of small gizmos to help him work on things, most notably a pair of cybernetic arms attached to his back that help him examine and work on sensitive or dangerous equipment with immense precision. his Workshop itself has a large number of different inventions and the like strewn about various benches and shelves, but precious little else.
The only part of the shop not filled with junk is the middle of the large chamber, a circle with the symbol of the Khalai:
.
Despite it's fantastic look, it's mostly notable as the area Karax meditates to restore his strength for the night, more than anything else.
Powers And Abilities: Karax is telepathic - as a matter of fact, due to his utter lack of a mouth, he can only communicate by sending bursts of thoughts in order to converse with others, though he can hear others just fine. Karax is also able to use telekinesis to some extent, occasionally using it to lift things that are in an awkward position to grab with his hands. However, Karax is not particularly versed in using either of these abilities. Unlike the Protoss Templar, the Khalai are not trained in how to use their telepathy or Telekinesis to the same degree as the warrior caste. Karax's nails are also very sharp, able to cut through solid metal with some effort.
However, Karax is exceedingly terrible at combat himself, due to his utter lack of training. Karax has yet to even make a fist since he first came to the Omniverse, and his shy personality and lack of aggression cause him to have no combat instincts whatsoever (other than "run away", in most cases.)
