Reactor Levels: Unknown
#1
Without much of a farewell, the pale figure of Omni faded into the void, and white spilled into the black emptiness. The warmth and glow of her underground nuclear reactor was quickly fading from memory, replaced by the uncaring, endlessly stretching blankness. Utsuho shifted on her feet, the warm metal of the control rod secured firmly to her right hand presenting some level of comfort. Her vision darted around, jerking from place to place in a manner not unlike a confused bird.

Her cursory and rather incomplete investigation revealed one very important thing. She was incredibly lost. Compared to the soft pinks and purples of the Palace of the Earth Spirits, or the radiant yellows and oranges of her nuclear reactor, the blank white of this place was absolutely unforgiving. The hell raven wasn’t quite sure whether she wanted to cry or burn everything into an irradiated mess.

Utsuho took a shaky step forward, her right foot planting onto the ground with a satisfying thud, weighed down by the solid corium encasing said foot. Whatever had happened, at least, hadn’t impacted her physically. And judging by the heated turmoil raging within her core, it hadn’t affected her ability either. Which meant she might as well start trying to burn everything away. Maybe someone familiar would come by and stop her. Then she could ask for some help getting home.

The hell-raven raised her control rod up and forward, bracing it with her left hand. By channeling her tumultuous power through that rod, she could gain more precise control. The nuclear reactions within surged forth, building up rapidly, before...

BOOM

Energetic plasma burst forth through the rod, the reactionary force knocking the ill-prepared Utsuho right onto her back. The raven blankly stared up at the empty white above, blinking periodically. What had she been doing again? Messing with her output? Maybe that’s what had knocked her clear over. It was nice to know how hot she could go before she started a runaway reaction. She sat back up, eyes wandering around everything again. If she was screwing around with the output though, then why wasn’t she in the reactor? And hadn’t Lady Satori told her not to go doing that? Just in case she caused another uncontainable meltdown? Not that she couldn’t contain it anyway, her dominion over fusion and fission would let her temper that, or at least, so she figured.

A discontented grumbled escaped her throat, and Utsuho brought her free hand up to her head, ruffling her hair. It just didn’t make sense. And for that matter, where was she, and what was she doing here? She didn’t remember leaving the reactor, and if someone had kidnapped her or something, she’d remember. She had no idea where this was, and no way to get out it seemed, the empty extended endlessly, after all. Maybe if she launched a nuclear flare upwards, someone would see and come help her? The young raven lifted her control rod skyward. Nuclear reactions raged deep inside her, building, surging, before...

BOOM

The laws of physics again showed no mercy to the youkai, the force of her blast once again driving her back-first into the ground.
“Huh...” Utsuho sighed curiously, largely ignoring the blankness above. So that’s what she’d been trying to do. Clearly she was doing it all wrong. Though what exactly was going wrong she didn’t know. Or maybe it had been successful, and she just didn’t know because she had been too busy experiencing surprise g-forces. In which case she could wait around for someone to investigate. That felt a bit optimistic though.

The raven lifted off the ground gracefully, bringing herself right-side up again, before planting her feet firmly onto the deceptive white, her concrete boot making an audible thud. Perhaps she just needed to pick a direction and walk in it. Her eyes darted about again, and this time she also made a point of actually turning to check things out. Immediately upon doing so, her vision was dominated by a great stone cylinder, standing at least thrice as tall as she, and sitting stoically within a pool of water, the sides of which quickly gave away into that featureless white yet again.

It was cool enough, giving the hell raven a familiar vibe, but it didn’t exactly help her at all. Especially since it wasn’t really ringing any bells. Familiar, but not too familiar. She shrugged, whatever it was, it probably wasn’t actually all that important. Maybe past it would be a good direction to head though.

Utsuho leapt up, easily clearing the top of the cylinder and landing quite gently on the other side, even though it probably would have been easier just to walk around it. Steadily, she set forth, her stride surprisingly even given the concrete block on her right foot. With one step always heavier than the other, she thudded along rhythmically, mindlessly humming a random tune in line with the stomp.

An indeterminate amount of time passed, the youkai either not bothering to keep track, or perhaps lacking the ability or motivation to do so. As she slowly plodded along, an archway of some kind slowly grew in her vision, rough and worn stone looking out of place when contrasting the nothing surrounding it. Lost in her own little rhythm, Utsuho paid it no mind as she trudged towards it until, in an empty daze, she stumbled through.
