He was never a fan of the waiting game.
Unfortunately, the night elves didn’t look to be heading anywhere anytime soon. With their conversation behind them, the warriors had settled into an uncomfortable silence as they waited for the robot who would never come to them. For his part, Proto Man simply slipped under a bush and deactivated most of his system processes. At the end of the day, he knew he’d outlast them, regardless of how dedicated they may be to their mission. Sooner or later, they’d either head home or at least slip up enough to provide him the opening he required.
I should invest in some sort of stealth feature… that’d be nice right about now.
As the day began to slip away, a noise outside of the ordinary shook Proto Man out of his idle state. From down in the valley, he heard a chorus of monstrous roars that came from no normal creature. A beat later, he heard elven shouts as the Sentinels moved to defend themselves.
With a grunt, Proto Man shoved up off the ground and scrambled into a standing position. As he rushed down into the valley, his outstretched hand turned into a Proto Buster, and the barrel light up with the familiar hum of charging energy. By the time he reached the bottom of the hill, he caught sight of the blighted creature. At one point, the humanoid figure may have been an elf, but the transformative disease had corrupted its flesh and burnt away any semblance of its former self. With a flash of yellow light, Proto Man caught the nearest creature in the chest, but instead of a fatal blast, the blow merely threw the beast to the ground.
The nearby night elf, who had been on the verge of being assaulted, turned and stared down at Proto Man for a handful of seconds before recalling the situation at hand. “Form up!” She screamed as she drew a curved blade. “They’re strong, but the Darkspawn will die like everything else!”
