Sweating profusely, Jams and Eric moved out of the dense forest, once again treading over the dense ashes of the blighted area. “Melody should still be nearby. Hopefully we can find her before these irritating pests drain me of my blood.” For what felt like the thousandth time Eric swatted at the swarm of insects gathering around the duo, but only succeeded in knocking his hood off his head. Halfway back the mage had donned his cloak in an attempt to ward off the blood-sucking fiends. Another application of his bug repelling goo had discouraged the horde for a while, but its effects had worn off by now.
The two began their search, and were soon rewarded when Jams spotted Melody’s storm-gray hair in the distance. The duo set off, strolling through the desolate wasteland. “All that effort for a such a small amount of paper. It must really be quite valuable.” Jams replied in his usual chipper way. “All that effort... for a slip of paper. Must be quite valuable! I wonder what Melody would use it for?"
Eventually, the two approached the elderly woman, calling out to her. “Well, I am glad to see you returned safely.” A wide smile appeared on her face when Jams pulled the paper out. “Thank you very much. You have done me a great service. I am indebted to you.” Jams handed over the paper, returning her smile. “You are welcome, Melody.” A small grin flashed across the mage’s face, and he gave Melody a short bow. “It was our pleasure to assist you ma’am. We wish you the best of luck with your work here.” After exchanging several goodbyes, Jams and Eric left melody to her labor, and began to amble across the burned section.
