“Hello, you have reached the Empire Police Department, how may we help you?”
“Good day. My name is Carmelita Fox-Cooper, I am calling to talk about a solution to international criminals.”
“...I beg your pardon?”
“I have a proposal that I think someone high up in the EPD should have a look at. It has the potential to crack down hard on international crime.”
“...I’m sorry, this is a little above my paycheck. Let me fetch my supervisor.”
There is silence for a couple of minutes.
“This better not be another crank call, or I swear I’ll demote you. Hello, Head of EPD PR speaking.”
“Good day, sir. My name is Carmelita Fox-Cooper, I am calling to talk about a solution to international criminals.”
“Okay, sure. Write it up, send it our way and see if it avoids the shredder.”
“Sir, I have the feeling you aren’t taking this seriously.”
“That’s because I’m not. Some random woman’s called up saying she can solve international crime, of course I’m not taking it seriously.”
“Let me rephrase it, then. I have a proposal that I think someone high up in the EPD should have a look at. It has the potential to crack down hard on international crime. It would most likely be classified as a low risk, high reward plan.”
“Ok, let’s hear it then.”
“I am an experienced police officer with a long history of successful international policing. I am establishing a non-political organisation with the aim of facilitating bringing international criminals to justice, and am contacting the EPD as one of the six principal beneficiaries of such a scheme.”
“So what’s the catch? You looking to get room to waltz in and start doing our jobs? Or worse, that of Camelot?”
“Nothing of the sort. I have a document to forward to your department of an ‘in principle’ approval of the organisation. After getting this approval, the organisation would need to work to gain approval to operate in each member’s territory.”
“Okay, even I can see this isn’t going to work. Camelot would never approve of us getting to call in folks in their territory.”
“The proposal is not for specific criminals but for perpetrators of specific types of crimes such as murder. I doubt anyone would object to these sorts of criminals being brought into custody.”
“Right then. I have to say, your idea’s not as bad as I thought. You got a date in mind for getting this document of yours signed?”
“I was planning on arranging a conference call between the departments after sending each a copy.”
“Right then. Ring 0112-EPD-35548 when you’re looking to arrange the actual call. Send me the document at [/color][color=#1155cc]EPDHPR7341@epd.gov.cor straight after this. You’ve got a lot of work ahead of you.”
