So I plan to oversee the launch of an in-world 'combat league'. My goal/intent is to design it in such a way where people can have quick bouts with fellow writers that are A) non-lethal, B) Non-time consuming, and C) meaningful. Fights in the League will/would be canon, as people would have to pause what they are doing to go beat up people, but travel is provided for in most situations.
Also, the Champion receives a fancy belt and becomes an Omniverse celebrity (with the Recognition [capital R] that goes with it).
Anyway, the information in the quoted text below is non-final. I wanted to post it to people to see if there was interest in this or not, as I don't want to set up something that wouldn't be worthwhile. Read through it and let me know your thoughts and if you would use this as an excuse/reason to (non lethally) throw down with your fellow characters.
Thank you for your time.

Quote:The "Omniverse Combat League” is an inter-verse combat promotion league. They own or lease a variety of areas in each of the main verses, with their central offices located in the Vasty Deep. The ‘League’ is quite popular, as they organize various sanctioned bouts in many of the verses. They are popular in that many of their fights were styled for local crowds. They also own a Dataverse streaming service where people can stream their fights from the comfort of their homes or their mobile data device. Their popularity has made the business quite lucrative, and they have recently placed their aim at expanding their popularity to make themselves the premier combat league.
As a result of their hopes at expansion, the League has created a whole new bracket, entirely for primes, with the leader being crowned the promotion’s Omniverse Champion. The reigning Omniverse champion would receive a generous stipend, as well as revenue from endorsements, merchandise, and any public appearances they may make.
So how does it all work?
The organization, despite owning lots in various verses and a small central office, is primarily a dataverse entity. They host a website with brawler profiles and the overall rankings of the ‘prime division’.
FIGHT YOUR WAY UP
Fighters may challenge any other fighter in the league. If the lower ranking fighter wins, they take the higher rank, and bump the loser down one rank. Challenges are done both OOC and IC (probably through the Dataverse, unless you're super into it). There will be an out-of-character thread, and the earliest posted challenges will be honored first. Once a challenge is accepted, a date is decided to give individuals time to sort things out. Travel can be provided by League personnel. If a character refuses a challenge (or no shows), they automatically forfeit (exceptions to people who have posted going on leave). A character who has just finished a challenge is free from being challenged for a period of 2 weeks.
FIGHTS
Fights can be held in any of the League's various properties. If your prime has been to the League's HQ, they can even simply be 'callbacked' there at their convenience. Otherwise, contestants can determine their battle area and what it looks like.
Prior to starting a fight, make sure you select a judge. A judge may be anyone except the Champion/Number-1 Contender of the League. Both parties must agree on a judge.
Fights in the League are non-lethal. Killing or banishing another prime will result in the same punishment being dealt out by League security. Non-Championship fights in the League follow the same basic format:
Word Limit: 600
Posts Per Player: 2
Time Limit: 48 hours
Random Elements: Off
Damage Meter: Off
Because these matches cannot result in the death of your prime, there is no extending deadlines.
Judges should have all fights graded within twenty-four hours. A judge is only to say who won. If they wish to later provide written up critiques/scoring, they may do so. The key here is not to have the fights or judgment drag on forever.
Number 1 Contender
Number 1 Contender is a position just below that of the champ. To challenge to become the No1 Contender, a player must be ranked in the top 3 of the League. Like a championship match, the current number 1 contender cannot deny a challenge without losing their status. The Number 1 contender is guaranteed a match against the champion after being Number 1 contender for at least 2 OOC weeks OR if they’ve defended their contender status against one challenger. If the No1 Contender loses their match against the champion, they will drop down 3 spots and be replaced by whoever has the most wins.
The Champ
The Champ is the face of the prime division. They own the championship belt. Being champion of the League grants that individual the Recognition bonus in the form of endorsements and other events. The Champion does not need to compete in non-championship bouts (but they can), although it is mandatory that the Champion defends his belt against any Number 1 Contender challenges. Failure to accept or show up for a title match will result in the Champion being stripped of his belt, losing all the privileges of being Champion. A stripped Champion must return the belt or a Bounty will be placed against them.
