Any thoughts on this, which you prefer, would be appreciated. I've done this partially so I can get a good look at it myself and reflect upon past and present tense usage, which I've been experimenting with for the last year. Some people have likened present tense to speaking in all caps all the time. It can be very in your face. My favourite author, Philip Pullman, says it's something best done by contrast. But then, switching between it all the time can be very jarring. I definitely feel like it lends something to action scenes.
