Tor’s heavy feet shook the metal staircase as he descended. The nearly cybernetic Blastoise’s guns had finished reloading, and he was ready to end this skirmish. The blue Yoshi had once been his friend and ally, but the heat of the battle had removed the last of his feelings for his former brother-in-arms. All that mattered now was ending Syril’s life so he could join the effort to track down the other two that were likely wreaking havoc within his base.
The Blastoise set its feet on the pavement, and strode past the deceased bodies of the other Liberation Front enforcers. He rounded the corner to the wide open hangar, but frowned when he didn’t see his adversary anywhere around. Tor quickly reached up and pressed the main button on his scouter, understanding that he couldn’t let Syril lurk in the shadows for too long. The device rapidly began to seek any sort of life signature in the hangar.
Once again, Syril had planned ahead. Tor was caught off guard when the Yoshi landed on his shoulders, and again wrapped his powerful tongue tightly over Tor’s neck. Syril grabbed both sides of the flailing Blastoise’s skull to steady himself. Tor’s arms were actually too short to even reach his neck, which completely prevented him from thwarting Syril’s attack directly. Instead, he was forced to stumble around and look for an alternative means to free himself.
As he gasped for air, the Blastoise lowered his head and charged headfirst into a wall with the last burst of energy he could muster. Syril collided with the harsh steel first, losing his grip in the process. He fell to the floor in a daze, but Tor collapsed alongside him. The Blastoise had taken a beating against the solid structure, as well. As the two of them lay dazed and frantically struggled to recover their senses, the elevator arrived with AndrAIa and Coal.
“Syril!” AndrAIa called out as they quickly stepped off the lift, and it began its descent once more.
Tor stumbled to his feet, glancing to the small Charmander as he did. They had freed the young one. He forced himself to regain his senses, fully understanding the depths of this situation. He was outnumbered two to one. Three, if one were to count the Charmander that held potential, but was useless as it was. Still, Syril was no pushover, and neither was this blue haired woman that travelled with the Prime.
Tor’s shoulder mounted chain gun began spinning as it targeted the two newest arrivals. Turning the Charmander to their side would have been nice, but survival had become the priority. AndrAIa was quick to recognize the threat of the minigun, and grabbed Coal. The struggling Charmander was yanked from his feet as they charged to the side, and fifty caliber rounds marked the trail of their retreat very quickly.
AndrAIa fled out the open hangar door, and quickly rounded the corner. Tor was infuriated as his rounds futilely impacted the solid wall that now protected the two of them. His spinning minigun slowed and began to reload, meanwhile he looked to his flank to see that Syril had recovered and retreated. Tor’s loud growl sufficiently spelled out his feelings. He was quickly losing control of this situation. It didn’t matter if it was the blue haired woman or the blue Yoshi, he needed to kill one of them quickly to make a statement and establish his dominance. He hardly considered Coal a threat.
Tor stepped out of the open bay door, looking to each side carefully, as well as the balcony above. Syril had already tried to strangle him twice, and he refused to be attacked in such a way a third time.
“Come out, cowards!” Tor bellowed in borderline desperation. He was in no way equipped to handle these two at the same time, and he was praying he could get a handle on this situation before the Prime arrived. Reinforcements were likely on the way, from deep within the ground, but he couldn’t last that long.
Answering his statements and thoughts, Syril looked to his left side to see AndrAIa closing in rapidly, with her trident fully extended. Unable to fire in time, he instead stepped forward and quickly spun around. AndrAIa’s trident struck his hard shell, bouncing off of it futilely. Tor was fortunate that he’d turned, because Syril was simultaneously approaching from the other direction. He thrust his foot out and kicked the Yoshi as hard as he could, sending the blue beast rolling backwards across the pavement.
AndrAIa was quick to recover, and thrust her trident at Tor once again. The Blastoise was able to give her his full attention, now, so he quickly turned and swatted the approaching prongs aside, then delivered a powerful kick to the sprite’s midsection. AndrAIa’s trident was hurled from her hands as she took the blow, and it flew through the air as she hit the ground and rolled backwards.
Tor seized this opportunity, stepping forward and aiming his rocket launcher at the defenseless woman. AndrAIa gasped for breath, completely unable to recover in time to stop her approaching end. As she clutched her stomach in pain, she gazed in horror down the barrel of the rocket launcher. Tor allowed himself a brief moment to cherish this victory over the interlopers, unaware of the sounds of the elevator behind him.
Matrix grabbed the barrel of Tor’s rocket launcher from behind and gave it a hard yank. The Blastoise was spun in its tracks, and its rocket escaped the launcher, only to fly harmlessly into the sky, as its new trajectory dictated. Tor shouted in a rage as Matrix released him, but he faced the prime only to receive a powerful sucker punch.
Tor flew several feet through the air, impacting the ground with a hard thud. Matrix approached the heavily armed Pokemon with a lethal glare in his eyes, and his firearm snapped to his right hand as he walked. Tor struggled to stand and face his newest adversary, but Matrix delivered a powerful kick to his face, and the turtle Pokemon was hurled backwards.
Matrix was back on the turtle Pokemon in an instant, with his gun in its face and his cybernetic eye glowing a bright red. Tor’s eyes widened in horror as the Blastoise realized that this was truly it. He stared down the barrel of Gun as he lamented on the irony that he would be erased by a Prime, a being that had no reason to fear death.
“Enzo, wait!” AndrAIa suddenly called out, prolonging the death of this cell’s leader.
Matrix gritted his teeth and firmly locked eyes with the massive turtle that had nearly ended his friends’s lives. AndrAIa didn’t care. This was where she drew the line. She had let him wander too far into his own darkness. This was the moment when she would save him from himself.
“Don’t do it. Don’t be another virus,” AndrAIa pleaded with him, slowly approaching her boyfriend. “You’re better than this, and you proved it before.”
Matrix’s hand quivered, his jaw trembled. He couldn’t do it, but only because it was AndrAIa’s will. Were she not here, he would have sprayed the Blastoise’s brains all over the asphalt. He knew it so well, yet he couldn’t muster up the strength to end the fight in her powerful presence. Instead, he could only let out a yell of rage and place a blast from his gun next to Tor’s head.
“If I ever see you around Cinnabar again, it really will be the end for you,” Matrix’s tone was firm and commanding. “Consider all of this a warning.”
The green sprite released his gun mid draw, and it snapped to his waist like always. Tor opened his mouth to speak, but Matrix brought his fist into the turtle’s skull once more, knocking the Pokemon out cold. He stood and looked to AndrAIa, to see her warm and approving smile. He then nodded to Syril, who was carefully observing the whole situation.
“We need to go, before backup arrives,” Syril announced, forcing himself not to look at Tor’s prone body.
The words had barely left his mouth when the whole island began to violently shake. Coal fell over from the tremors, but the other three were smart enough to steady their footing. The vibrations didn’t stop, and only continued to increase.
“What is that!?” Coal shouted in a panic.
Matrix could only sigh.
“Backup.”
