"She thinks I'm an ORC?!"
Dominator's voice echoed in her throne room, the woman's phone held in front of her as she scrolled through the posts on the dataverse. From behind her helmet, her eyes narrowed angrily. Being ignored was frustrating enough as it was; that wasn't the way people were supposed to react to being needled online! But to be mistaken as an entirely different species to her own? That was... intolerable.
Her fingers danced over the keys, and her expression soured even further. Her lips pulled downwards, and she stood slowly from her seated position. She'd given her a chance to apologise, and she'd thrown it right back in her face!
"Who the FLARB does she think she is?!"
Throwing her communicator across the room, the tiny machine bounced off the wall with an expensive-sounding tinkle. Throwing her hands into the air, magma burned brightly across her fingers, and she stretched her arms up over her head.
"Okay, Dee, calm down, calm down. She's just some stupid twit on the dataverse. You don't need to care what she thinks. What does she know? She's trying to build a wall to keep out ninjas. She's a moron."
Her sneakers squeaked across her empty throne room as she walked over to the broken device, and picked it up. She was getting pretty good at this omnilium stuff now. It was barely any effort at all to focus it into her fingertip and press it against the cracked screen. Slowly, surely, the glass melded back into one smooth plane, and Dominator looked back around the room. Who was she even talking to? She was here all alone!
... and that was the problem, wasn't it?
Back home, nobody would dare talk to her the way people here did. If it wasn't that idiotic 'heroic mercenary' completely failing to show her even basic respect, it was some lunatic Princess confusing her with an orc - whatever an orc was! Something bad, by the sound of it. She should, at least, do a basic data search to find out...
The array of images that greeted her inquiry had Dominator's eyes widening like saucers.
"I don't look ANYTHING like that!"
The howl of impotent fury echoed through the whole mountain, Dominator's shriek reverberating through the metal corridors which made up her home as though it had been designed specifically to augment her voice.
"Okay, that's it. I'm going to destroy her. I'm going to hunt her down, and destroy her. Every person who has ever said a nice thing to her? Dead. Dead! I'll kill them all! Maybe I'll make her watch, first! After I've made her apologise for calling me an orc. Because I am not an orc!"
She'd let herself start to get complacent once her plan was put into action. Gathering power was all well and good, but if she didn't go out and use it then there was no point in having it! Power which couldn't be abused was no type of power at all. If she was going to get the respect she was due, here, she needed to make an example of this little creep. She needed to show her just what it meant to insult LORD DOMINATOR!
As she ranted, Lord Dominator walked over to her elevator, and jabbed the button. Slowly, the interior of the mountain responded to her demand. Stepping into the elevator, soothing music played over the speaker. It did not help her much. Her eyes still fixated on the little dataverse in the palm of her hand.
"Oooh, I know! I'll string her up over a pool of lava and then slowly lower her into it! Then she can be like..." Dominator waved her arms around wildly to illustrate the point, "Aaaaugh! Nooo! I'm sorry Lord Dominator, you're not an orc! You're the greatest in the galaxy aaaaugh I'm so dumb and stupid and now I'm burning to deatttttthhhhh..."
Horrible gurgling noises ensued, and the elevator came to a gentle stop with a 'ding', and the doors opened to reveal the Ashen Steppes laid out before her. One of these days, she was going to have to figure a way to make the journey more comfortable. Maybe some sort of hoverbike? But, for now, the walk actually gave her time to think - and fixing her phone was one thing, but creating a whole hoverbike? No, if she was going to kick up production, it was going to be for important things first - luxuries could follow afterwards.
By this point, the Koopa Garrison had come to know their strange new ally quite well. Lord Dominator often said that she didn't want anything to do with the Koopa Troopers, but in reality she came down every few days or so to poke around, make sure everything was still going smoothly, and that there was nothing she could do to help. It would be a stretch to say that they were becoming friendly with the would-be tyrant, but she was becoming a regular presence around the garrison.
"Lieutenant." Dominator said, letting herself into the Koopa's office. "I want to ask you a few questions."
The little soldier looked up and raised an eyebrow sharply. "Lord Dominator." He replied, "I suppose telling you that you're supposed to make an appointment wouldn't help?"
Dominator slid herself into the chair opposite the Koopa's desk, and folded one leg over the other, lounging backwards to make herself as comfortable as possible.
"Princess Bonbon Sunshine. What can you tell me about her?"
The Lieutenant looked momentarily taken aback. "Not too much." He admitted, "One second."
Hopping up from his chair, he walked over to a filing cabinet and rustled around in there for a few moments before he pulled out a slim file. Setting it down on the desk, he opened it up - aside from a crude drawing of the girl, there wasn't an awful lot of stuff in there to be going on with.
"We've run into some of her people before. They're bad news. Allied with Camelot but, we don't think the relationship is exactly amicable. She heads up a group called the Anti-Evil Enforcers."
Dominator pulled the folder over towards her and looked down at it with a sceptical eye.
"This is why I prefer working with robots." She muttered, "Look at this. 'The bad men hurt us up real good'. You people need some serious training when it comes to writing reports."
The Lieutenant huffed, "Well, anyway." He said, "We try to keep our heads down over here. The A-E-E? They're bad news. If you're not human, they're basically on the 'kill first, don't bother to ask questions' school of 'heroics'. To tell you the truth, that isn't a school we have much experience with."
Dominator hummed thoughtfully as she eyed the report, the crude drawing. It sounded like they weren't completely powerless, that much she could ascertain fairly easily - but it was hard to get any useful idea of how strong this 'Princess Bonbon' actually was from the report alone. Beating up koopa patrols wasn't exactly difficult. Still, if she had the backing of Camelot, that might indicate that she was powerful enough to be a concern.
"Why do you want to know all this, anyway?" The Lieutenant asked, "Do you know something we don't? Is she coming here?!"
Lord Dominator shook her head, "No." She replied, "I don't think so, anyway. I'm going to her."
"Uuuh, are you sure that is a good idea?"
The look in Dominator's eye was enough to silence any further questions that the Koopa might have been contemplating asking. She didn't say another word as she rose from the seat.
"Thanks for the file." She said, "This has been very helpful. I'm sure I'll make good use of it."
Back in her lair, the elevator opened up to reveal her dungeon. The one part of the mountain which did actually have other living beings in place. The moment the elevator doors opened, the captives flinched back away from the bars of their cells. Dominator strode down the corridor until she was situated in the middle of it, looking over the unfortunate souls she had been able to capture. They were a sorry lot; weak, feeble, wretched beings all of them. Extracting any kind of entertainment out of them was almost more work than it was worth.
"Please, please Lord Dominator." A trembling voice raised up. "Let us go, we, we're no threat to you..."
Dominator opened the door to the captive's cell. Desperate, the young man tried to push past her. He was a scrawny elf, scrappy and - most importantly for her purposes, easily portable.
"I know you aren't any kind of threat." Dominator said, as her hand - stretched wide and grasping - closed around the poor boy's torso, lifting him up into the air. "That's why I captured you. Honestly, I didn't think you were stupid as well as weak."
The elf struggled against her grasp, but her grip was tight and she held him upside-down, looking into the poor, desperate secondary's eyes.
"Anyway!" She said, cheerfully. "I'm afraid we're going to have to speed things along. I wanted to take my time, really see if I could get to grips with the process here, but, I guess it doesn't matter."
"P-Process? What do you mean?"
Dominator's smile spread wide across her lips, and the unfortunate elf's blood ran cold in his veins.
"Oh, you'll see."
As he was dragged off, within the cells a beautiful woman - also elvish, but by far the best dressed in her elegant blue gown, unbowed by the horrors that she had been put through - touched her fingers to the bars.
"Do not lose hope." She murmured to the survivors, "My brother will find us, of that, I am certain."
Dominator's voice echoed in her throne room, the woman's phone held in front of her as she scrolled through the posts on the dataverse. From behind her helmet, her eyes narrowed angrily.
