This was recorded into the Avengers Communicator that had been given to him by Captain America. Once he had prerecorded the message Hal immediately headed to the nearest exit from the Tower. Once he had reached the exit he flew off. The Avengers didn't need a hero who was so weak it was pitiful. What they needed was someone who was superior to him in every way, shape and form imaginable. In short they needed someone other than Hal Jordan. So he was going to make sure they had a slot open for when a better hero came along.
