A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized
#17
There were only five gunshots.
Each went off consecutively, all equally loud and thunderous, a 'crack' going off with every flash. The muzzle flashes were a blaze of light, from the outside it looked as if the sun had consumed the interior, turning everything into yellow and white flashes between the cracks of the walls for a millisecond before disappearing again. A loud thud would follow as well, like the gunshots the thuds would come one after another, adding to the chorus of noise coming from inside. Following the last gunshot was silence, only the ever-growing melee could be heard echoing down the streets. The door swung open a few seconds later.

Two clawed feet landed on the sand a step below the doorway, quickly lifted up and put on the move again. As the prime would continue onward without a thought to the secondaries she had just killed, her feet would leave a thin trail of all the blood through the pathways she strolled.

Jeff rolled left, then right, then twice to the left. Sand getting into his clothing and rubbing against his skin. He would kick at the ground, pushing his hands against the floor and trying to get away from the large man. It didn't work. Once the large man had a hold of Jeff's ankle however he'd kick with the other leg, violently smashing his boot into the face of the muscly man, the heel specifically aimed at his nose. After the third kick, the man howled, reeling back and holding onto his broken nose. "Aoki, get him!" Jeff yelled, looking at the young tribal some distance away, who was still standing with his horror filled face. He didn't move, not even in the slightest, and no one attacked him to break him out of his trance.

"Aoki! Damn it!" Jeff cursed under his breath, eyes darting back to the large man who had adapted to the pain in his face. With a disturbingly bloody mouth, he howled once more; not in pain, but in anger. Leaping to his feet, Jeff raised both fists in preparation for the oncoming attack, giving a cold stare back to his roaring opponent. However, the man stayed where he was, looking back with his face slowly coming to a smile.

Jeff could feel himself suddenly hovering in the air, having been picked up by the back of his shirt's collar. "Forget about me?" the person said.
"Shit." Jeff cursed once more, looking into the eyes of the larger man's comrade; the same man he had attempted to strangle in the first place.

As Jeff was then beaten by the two men who happily attempted to break bones and bruise skin, Aoki was left breathing heavily, mind still left swimming for answers among the sea of violence. The crowds of prisoners and bandits still pushed and pulled, farther from the campfire now as they fought in the 'streets.' Skin brushed against skin, muzzle flashes of guns came from the rooftops of huts, failing to scare off the riot. Some prisoners were able to steal keys, proudly throwing their cuffs at the cannibal groups before the prisoners charged into the fray once more, punching, biting and grabbing at their foes with the dream of freedom once more in reach. It was as if this was all in slow motion, every tiny detail picked out by Aoki's disturbed mind. Broken teeth falling out of bloodied mouths, the wounded screaming for help while lost in the mobs, those begging for forgiveness as they would struggle in the violently tight grasp of the enemy, and of course the dead bodies, yet to rot with their eyes wide open.

He was left to stand there, eyes having lost all trace of sapience. A husk is all he was, looking but not understanding, fearing it all but unable to stop watching. Muscles would twitch every now and then at the sight of someone being hurt, but it was only a mere reflex.

Then two distinct gunshots could be heard over all the shooting, stabbing, screaming and yelling. Aoki's head immediately rotated, broken from his trance and looking in the direction of where the shots came from.

Three more boomed, each one followed by a corpse of a bandit falling from the rooftops. It wasn't long before the bandits on the roofs dispersed, seeking cover or merely retreating, Kalli following them with her rifle and firing a few more shots at those leaping away. Once she had passed over a fighting crowd and neared a roof that had sight over the campfire, she aimed- two more gunshots echoed, the two large men falling into the sand with a surprised Jeff crawling out from under them, looking toward where the bullets came from; Kalli rolled as she touched the sand, having leaped off the rooftop with ease. Jeff then got to his feet, Aoki joining him at his side with a admiring stare toward the prime.

"You're alright?" Kalli asked, looking at the two. Jeff ripped a key from one of the corpses of his deceased attackers, unlocking Aoki's cuffs.
Jeff replied "I'm fine. But this kid here isn't going to be, brain is fried-"
"No," Aoki interrupted, looking at the two- who stared back in surprise -though giving a confident nod toward the prime "I can fight, I just need a weapon."

Kalli looked at Jeff, who then looked at Aoki before looking back at the prime. "You don't need to give him anything. But give me your pistol at least"

She agreed, unlocking the holster on her right thigh, taking out the pistol while letting her rifle hang off of the sling wrapped around her shoulders. As the rifle swayed back and forth, her free talon took all the pistol clips, collecting them before letting them drop onto the palm of Jeff's hand. His other hand was given the grip of the pistol. "It isn't meant for long range combat, so don't try to go sniping with it." she warned, before raising a finger and pointing over a mob of prisoners and cannibals fighting each other "Down there is a armory, try to gather everyone you can and steal all the equipment that works. Then I need you to get back to the row of vehicles out in the center, Whitthorn is going to be sitting in a pickup that looks like his, you should know it when you see it."

"What about you?" Aoki asked.
"I'm going to find out where The Eldest is, and get that gate open. Stay safe, I should be done in a hour at most." Kalli said, then suddenly running off and charging through a crowd prisoners and cannibals. After a few seconds of gunshots, the prisoners had the upper hand, smashing any resistance the retreating cannibals put up while Kalli had completely disappeared, having moved off toward the gate that loomed ahead.
