Hopps disappeared into the wavering scar left behind by Blink's borderline mutiny. Cap turned away from the portal an towards Hal.
"Alright son, just follow my lead." Cap moved to the back of the Quinjet and opened the bay door with a push of a button. He was hit with fierce and cold winds, fueling him with adrenaline as countless memories came flooding back. With a half-smile, Captain America hopped off the edge and into the unknown. He fell for a few moments before the ground and the building came into view. He could see five soldiers congregated in a group, two of them helping up the other three. Looks like his team had been here.
Rogers pulled out his shield and moved it into position ahead of him. Like a star-spangled torpedo, Cap crashed into the sand in the middle of the group, sending up a smokescreen of silicone. He yanked his shield out of the sand and used the momentum to bring it up and into the jaw of the closest soldier, sending him flipping backwards. Without missing a beat, Steve pivoted sharply and crashed his free fist into another guard's temple, dropping him like an overfull sack.
The remaining soldiers scrambled for their weapons, but Captain America had a different plan. He flung his shield forward, sending it ricocheting between the remaining three soldiers. They stumbled and fell, giving Cap time to sprint towards the building. He stopped at the nearest entrance and glanced around for Hal Jordan. Without Blink's portal, he'd need Jordan to watch his back.
