A Exploration Of The New and Uncivilized
#15
There was a strong desire to head straight for the mob, the chanting and callous cannibals that were encircling their fire. But the desire was suppressed, the need for violence replaced with a focus; reclamation of her own weapons and armor.

It was becoming a easy task, so many bandits believing that their priority was to join in with the crowd, praising Malgore's ability to capture so many prisoners. In reality, they were all desperate; the young ones would easily be allured to the idea of joining the feast just as much as the older and abused were easily drawn to the smell of cooked flesh, hoping for some food. Not all had decided to join in this however, those who were more independent- such a rarity among the Malicious Sons, it seemed -would travel about the empty huts with their gang of selected comrades, casually talking as the uncivilized mess that was the feast would go down behind the huts that they moved between. Kalli would pop her head out every now and then as she sneaked, watching as a group of bandits would walk along and speak in their varied accents, more accents than she knew of. It became almost impossible to understand some of them as they would speak in ways that was completely foreign, and to the prime rather absurd. But they all spoke of a place that she knew was her next objective: The Armory.

The prime continued avoiding each patrol with some effort, climbing and sudden sprints or slides between cover, perhaps a small thrown object or two for good measure, distracting a patrol and drawing them away from her direction. Finally, she was in running distance of the armory, a giant green sign- something like that of a modern highway -hanged above the door, with the word "Armory" etched into the metal, ignoring any other word that was painted on the sign. The armory, like many buildings in this cavern, was made of two materials; wood and metal. It was about two stories high, with a metal roof and wooden walls with no windows cut into them. However, unlike the rest of the huts the armory had a light, it was a yellow that shined through the cracks of the walls all throughout the structure. It wasn't a bright light, but it was quite apparent someone had something on. Wires also seemed to be hanging above the armory as well, these wires stretching out from rooftop to rooftop, not connecting to the other huts but merely using them to get back to the generator near the gate without having to expose itself on the sand.

Kalli smiled to herself, leaning out and looking down any nearby pathways while remaining behind her cover, which was nothing more than a stack of old barrels. There was nothing to be found, the 'streets' cold and empty like a ghost town, to which she didn't bother thinking about; the prime made her sprint, running up to the armory door and opening it hastily, before shutting it behind her. Its creaking did not go unnoticed.

"Hey," A tattooed bandit turned her head around, staring back between the huts from where they came "I heard something."
The entire group of five all turned their heads and bodies around, looking down the path with alarmed hearts and awakened minds.
"Spread out, a prisoner may have escaped." One of them whispered, to which the rest nodded, all carefully moving back the way they came as if they were about to stumble upon an ambush. As they delicately moved along, one of them finding footprints in the sand, inhuman and unlike anything they would dare capture for the feast. They'd soon huddle around the print, looking in the direction where it went while one bandit was crouched, looking at the print and touching the sand, rubbing it between his fingertips.

"These footsteps aren't human, is it the prime? Did she escape?" One asked
"Fresh prints, walking alone for sure." the crouching one replied
"Shit, Malgore wont like this. We're following the trail." the tattooed one ordered

They all then began to move again, soon coming upon the door of the armory. It was without question; breach and clear.

"I don't know what to do."

Aoki didn't comprehend. Well, he couldn't comprehend with how he merely kept looking down at the sand with his ears closed off to the world. He didn't even know that he spoke aloud, something which Jeff heard quite easily. The two were still cuffed together and their chains linked to the remaining prisoners, left to sit on their knees, the large fire in front of them keeping their faces in the light despite the fact few would dare look into it directly. If the survivors managed to make it through all this, plenty of trauma was to follow with how many had watched friends and family cooked and pushed into the fire, left to die as their skin and clothes were consumed in flames. Aoki was traumatized long before that however, unprepared for reality of battle, looking like a pup without its mother.

"But I do," Jeff said, looking down at Aoki with the calmest expression among the prisoners "and I need your help."
Aoki slowly raised his head, looking up at the man with a look that spoke of sorrow without even needing a word.

Jeff began "You know the two who keep picking people up?" those 'two' were the cannibals assigned to tie the prisoners to poles and cook them over the fire, some of the strongest and biggest in the tribe. Aoki hesitantly nodded to Jeff's statement, shaking and sweating at the idea of defying their captors. Jeff continued "I'm going to get the attention of both, you'll leap onto the back of one, strangle him with your cuffs and then I'll do the same to the other guy. We'll stop strangling them once they stop moving, got it?"

"But this is suicide, even if we're both successful-" Aoki began, quickly interrupted
"Look, a slow death is right in front of you," Jeff nodded toward the flames while speaking "you can take that or try to fight back and hope for the best. Your choice."

Aoki looked down at the cuffs, seeing his reflection in the chains that linked each cuff. "My choice..." he muttered to himself.
