Return of the King!?
#4
Bullets rained through the alley, covering the golden guards in hot lead. After the smoke had cleared, Eon paused momentarily to gauge the damage he had inflicted on the two brutes... Nothing, he had done little to no damage and the two of them began running towards the gunslinger. If he was going to defeat these guards, he'd need to do more than just fire relentlessly. He needed time to devise a plan.

One of the golden armored foes began spouting off about the feeble attack and denounced the idea of Eon actually being Gilgamesh. The gunslinger's teeth clenched, and his brow furrowed. Was he legitimately offended by the comment? His hand tightened around the Punisher's trigger...

Heaven's Last Angel flipped the cross around, shouldering it, and dropped to a knee, firing one of its rockets straight at the oncoming force. The projectile jettisoned down the cramped passage, converging on the targets and making direct contact with one. In that moment of surprise, Eon dashed around a corner and began running. He needed to think...

Smaller caliber rounds don't seem to have an effect on their armor. The machine gun and the Grader pistols are out then. Going to have to rely on my... brethren...

"Fuck!" His train of thought broke as he exclaimed his frustration.

He knocked it right out of my hand! Its back there... I have to go back, but there is no way in hell I'm going to get past the one that is still on his feet easily. That arrogant creature... how dare he call me a fake...

There it was again, Eon was getting worked up over the truth. He wasn't Gilgamesh, he had dawned the persona only because others had dubbed him it and in doing so saved his life. This guard infuriated him though.

"Do you have any idea what I have been through!?" His question echoed through the pathways, making it back to the Crystal faced guard who tried to listen to hone in on the rebels position.

He would call me weak... he acts as though because he can muscle through a few of my attacks, that he can so easily defeat me... The King...

Eon placed his hand to his face, continuing his pace, he closed his eyes and shook his head. Why did he just think that? Who was he trying to convince that he was Gilgamesh? The Cannibals of the dessert? The Guards of Nippur? Or was he trying to convince himself... suddenly his progress came to a halt, as he collided with something or someone. It was a man, who now lay on the ground rubbing the back of his head as he began pulling himself back to his feet.

"Hey! Watch where ya..." The man began to speak, as Eon lifted his head and removed his hand from his face. The man's knees trembled and his hands shook. "C-c-c-can it be??" He fell to his knees with out stretched hands.

Heaven's Last Angel knew who this man believed him to be, and without hesitating he spoke in a regal tone, "Yes, it is I. On your feet."

The man quickly rose to his feet, "How can it be?" his question resonated within Eon, and his eye narrowed, glaring at the man. The peasant's whole body went stiff.

"How? You dare doubt. Hell itself could not hold the likes of me..." In the distance, down one of the passages the gunslinger heard the sound of armored footsteps. He couldn't deal with this pathetic second, he thought to just put a bullet in him and keep moving... then something sparked in his mind. He began taking off his red and white jacket, to reveal all black form fitted wear. He then opened the Punisher's arms and removed a Grader pistol from it. "Quickly, you wish to right your wrong you have committed here?"

"Yes! Anything my King." He replied as Eon handed him the jacket and pistol.

"Put this on and begin heading down that passage there." Eon said while pointing, and the man slid his arms into the sleeves. "Do this and you will have all you ever dreamed and more, when you see one of the Golden armored guard fire at him. I will attack from behind, someone his trying to cover up my reemergence..." The man seemed slightly caught of guard, "Go! Now!" With that the man began walking the direction the gunslinger had gestured too.

Eon ducked around another turn, just as he heard the Golden brute enter the alleyway he'd been in.

This should buy enough time.

He began making his way through the pathways, back towards the spot where they had first engaged him. Some civilians could be seen, peering down the alleys. Presumably trying to find the source of the gun fire and explosion. Eon stuck close to the walls and did his best to ignore the onlookers, there weren't many but the longer this fight took the more that would come.

The Crystal mask of the guard could give insight to a targets abilities, but see through walls it could not. He made his way towards an intersection, the talking he heard was close to this point. He turned to see the imposter walking down the path, as he began making his way towards the target his crystal mask began detecting something completely different from the rebel he was tracking. The man in Eon's coat turned and with great hesitation, pointed the Grader pistol at the guard. The Crystal Masked servant couldn't believe the imposter would try and pull such a childish trick, he ignored the peasant in the coat and attempted to continue his search. "In the name of The King!" the man shouted and squeezed the trigger. The bullet ricocheted off the Golden guard's armor, causing him to pause. Had this commoner actually fired upon one of the Golden guard? A second shot fired and dinged off his shoulder.
There was no way this guard could let this spread through the city, he began advancing on the man. Fear filled the peasant's eyes, he fire twice more rapidly missing altogether. "The King will Vanquish those who are against his return!" The man exclaimed, as the guard quickened it's pace, people around the area began popping their heads around the corners. Before the man knew it, the Crystal mask was atop of him. The guard could hear Gilgamesh's name being said from the spectators. He would split this common miscreant in twain, he rose his blade. The man rose the Grader and pulled the trigger firing all three shots in rapid fire. A small chip at the corner of the mask formed just as the blade ripped the man down the middle.

Heaven's Last Angel managed to make his way back to the initial alleyway he had hidden in. His eyes scanned the ground for his lost brethren. As he walked towards the broken crates he felt a cold chill run down his spine. He looked down the exit of the passage, there stood the other Golden guard. His body still emanated smoke from the rocket he had taken, and his face revealed a broken crystalline mask instead of the golden one he wore upon their first meeting. He began making his way towards Eon, dragging his halberd behind him. He was definitely injured in some way, the gunslinger thought to finish him off with his last remaining rocket... then a silver glimmer caught his eye by some smoldering barrels, it was his other revolver.

"You fool. You raise your weapon against me? You think me that weak. I will show you the mind of the true King." Eon drew his black pistol as he said this. Why continue with this charade? Just finish this one off so he can focus on the other and get out of this god forsaken city.

The gunslinger took aim and fired at the wounded guard's left thigh. The bullet cracked the armor and made the brute wobble, taking another step. That was all Eon needed to know, his revolvers could put dents in their armor. Taking aim he shot at his shoulder this time, causing his target to reel back before lurching forward and continuing his advancement.

How much damage can they actually take?

The golden guard was within ten meters, Eon breathed deep through his nose and out his mouth. The armored brute managed to use his weight as momentum to run towards the imposter. Heaven's Last Angel squeezed his trigger. His third bullet went to the right thigh, his forth to the left again, and the fifth back to right. Two holes appeared in the golden armor and the guard fell to the ground before Eon's feet.

"I told you..." The gunslinger said as he placed the mouth of his barrel to the forehead of the golden guard as it struggled to pick itself up. "All Hail the King"

The revolver fired... the bullet bursting through the back of it's head... and Eon wasn't completely sure... if it was he who pulled the trigger... or Gilgamesh.
