The knight’s eyes showed before her a fairly large building, the doors gaping wide open, seemingly busted in. Whatever hope there may have been before, was unlikely to be there anymore, with a deformed corpse sprawled across the stairs. Arturia headed towards the doors, skirting around the corpse, keeping close attention to it, as she even decapitated the body. Given how the knight had already fought against corpses, she found it safer, considering the poor condition of her other hand. A safeguard, in a way.
As she headed inside with her blade raised in a defensive stance, the knight found she was following the occasional corpses, slashing them apart mercilessly as she went.. She hated the fact that she was mutilating the dead, but she wasn’t about to take a risk. The entrance hall was in disarray, as someone had built a barricade out of the chairs and tables to the doors, yet it had been busted open, leaving the furniture scattered across the floor, and the knight walking on cracking splinters of wood below her feet.
The knight spent time inspecting her surroundings, finding naught worth noting, even behind the reception. The entrance hall and everything within it had been swiped clean, with only the occasional slip of paper left behind. Eventually, the knight followed the trail of debris to the backrooms, a waft of something burnt assaulting her nose, causing her eyes to water, as she pressed further in. Further into the hallway, the knight’s eyes caught evidence of a charred corpse as her steps furthered her in a cautious manner.. The charred corpse laid across the vault entrance, the robust round door hanging open, revealing within it the array of destroyed lockboxes, as well as another corpse. As the knight proceeded within, she worked to ensure she was first safe within the vault, before she allowed her sword to dissipate, and began to investigate the lockboxes.
As she rifled through them, occasionally busting the few untouched ones, she could find nothing of strategical value, the boxes containing simply jewelry, checks, cash, testaments.. Until eventually, she found a small wooden box within one of them. Setting it to a nearby cart, the knight unlocked the latch and lifted the lid, as the contents of the box were revealed. Before her eyes, seemed to be some kind of a vessel flute, perhaps a modern version of one. It was sparkling azure in colour, shaped like a tooth of a dragon, perhaps two of her fists in length, sleek and slender in design, twelve holes upon the top of the device, and two on the bottom.. Within the box was also seemingly enough a carrying case designed to be attached upon one’s waist, built from very sturdy materials to protect the fragile instrument. In a way, the device reminded her of her home, Britain.. And as such, the knight decided to take the ceramic instrument with her.
The rest of her investigation yielded more of wasted time, as she headed out of the vault, the newly added package upon her waist, and her sword once more concealed in the steady grip of her right hand. She headed down the other hallway, this one seemingly less ravaged than the other, as she spent time investigating each of the offices she’d come across, even though it seemed to yield naught. Whoever had been here before her, had been frustratingly thorough. But it almost seemed like the knight was rewarded for her sheer determination, as she finally found something of use; A diary of sorts, located within the manager’s office. As she read through the pages, she nodded to herself. They’d used this place as a repository for pure, unrefined Omnilium, but that none of the shipments had came through in a long while. The journal also hinted the knight a sense of direction; in the trails of the former Manager, whom had left for the Mines where the Ominilium was acquired from, where there were supposed to be some sort of escape pods.
Slapping the small book shut, the knight packed it within the same sturdy pouch she was carrying the instrument with.
As such, the knight consumed some of the rations she had brought, together with some of the water, before she headed out once more, it was time to deliver this newfound information to Carmelita and the others.
