As Guu reached the bottom of the stairs, she first caught sight of her new companions. Tsunade didn’t exaggerate when she stated that she’d feel at home with them, they all seemed like people that would live in Ambrosia.
Chuck sat at the end, his face deep into a dataverse device. Somehow, he had already dressed in casual shorts and hawaiian shirt.
Beside him was a woman, appearing in her late teens. She was dressed in a white playboy bunny costume. Her skin was a dark color, her hair was chestnut and hung halfway down her back. She took one glance at the pink one and sighed heavily before focusing back on her vapor cigarette.
The last of the three, and easily the most out of place, was a watermelon, but it had arms, legs and a head. Its head had little lumps that formed it’s hair and it had small little beady eyes. It had on a pink tank top with a yellow star on the belly, and a small white skirt that barely covered their lower half.
The watermelon was rocking back and forth in its seat, looking up at the ceiling. It took a brief glance from its place in the cosmos to notice Guu standing in front of it. It started waving at Chuck and suddenly a hole forms to create a square shaped mouth with jagged teeth. It begins making incomprehensible noises while splatting small black seeds and watermelon pulp on the floor as it tries desperately to make enough noise to catch the demon ninja’s attention. The bunny suited woman curved her spine in her seat, disgusted at the muck that was spitting out of the fruit’s mouth.
Failing to catch his attention, Guu decided to take matters in her own hands.
“Ahem.” She said, impatiently.
Chuck looked up from his phone, and his smile shot up mile wide upon seeing her. He jumped to his feet.
“Welcome back your highness! I hope you had a productive meeting.”
“Yes I did.” She said, her attention still divided by the other two.
“I’ve heard that you’ve agreed to do the mission!” He said excited.
“How did you-” Guu began to ask but was interrupted.
“Oh don’t concern yourself with ninja tricks, let me introduce you with your new partners!”
He took her stub arm and pulled her closer to the pair. She yanked her arm away after only a short distance, giving him a death glare. He failed to notice this transaction and continued with his introduction.
“First up is Banii!” He said, raising his arm in the direction of the middle companion. The playboy bunny girl gave off another heavy sigh as she tried not to establish eye contact with the princess. “You’ll have to excuse her, she doesn’t like meeting new people. She’s self conscious about the costume and all.”
“It’s not a costume.” She finally spoke, scornfully to her demon peer. He raised his arms defensively.
“Hey, I don’t judge based on your clothing choices.”
“Why does no one ever believe me?” She yelled out, her arms up in the air in anger. “It’s not a costume, it’s part of my body!”
“I’m certain Guu doesn’t judge either.” He said
“Argh!” The bunny girl plopped in her chair and started puffing up a storm.
Chuck moved onto the final companion.
“And this here, we just call her Melani.” He stated. “At least, that’s what we call her, her species isn’t capable of human speech. You’d be amazed how much can get done with body language alone.”
The little watermelon person bowed politely, giving a little bit of a curtsey with what little skirt she was wearing. Guu reciprocated.
“I’ve never seen a watermelon person before.” She stated. This was the truth.
“Oh yeah? With your experience, I’m surprised.” He said, chuckling. “Yeah, she writes that he species is called a ‘Watermelon Steven’ or something like that.”
“Watermelon Steven?” She said, puzzled at the odd name.
“Yeah, the named derived from their creator, who made them in his own likeness.”
“A god named Steven?” Now she’s heard everything. Next thing she knows, she’ll learn that ‘he should not be named’ is actually named ‘bob.’
“Oh yeah, and Banii hails from some place called the ‘Useless Forest.’ Apparently everyone from there wears animal costumes.”
“It’s not an animal cos-”
“Now that you know everyone, it’s time for the debriefing!”
