After a hairy encounter where Carmelita passed herself off as a shady acquaintance of the man, she obtained directions from a local.
The shack was built on top of another building, the wooden floor supporting a rickety metal structure. Carmelita stepped off the stairs and cautiously poked her head through the door.
What she saw sent her heart plummeting. The person lying soundly asleep on the bed had one eye, not three, and the selection of drugs on a small table was decidedly not medicinal. She backed out, disappointed her lead had been a stab in the dark.
As she walked down an alley, a young boy came racing round the corner, a dog snapping at his heels. Almost without thinking Carmelita immediately brought her boot down hard on the mutt’s head, slamming it into the ground and breaking her cloak. The boy stared wide eyed at his saviour as she followed up, whipping a pair of cuffs off her belt and fastening it around the neck of the dog and a nearby steel girder. Carmelita stepped back out of range of the dog’s foaming and biting and turned to the boy.
“Are you alright?”
The boy stared at her before a grin spread itself across his face.
“That was AWESOME!”
Carmelita smiled.
“All in a day’s work. Now run along.”
As the boy turned to go a thought struck her.
“Actually, before you go, I was wondering if you could tell me a few things…”
---
It was a dark bunker claimed by the slums that the boy’s directions led her to. This time she tempered her hopes, one hand on her shock pistol as she made her way to the door and eased it open.
There was the sound of a thread snapping and Carmelita dropped to the floor in time for a knife to fly through the space her head had been. Rolling through the entrance she found herself in a dark and dirty room lit only by the blue glow of a bacta tank. She found herself staring down the barrel of a shotgun, wielded by the bedridden occupant of the room.
She looked up and smiled into the three eyes that focused on her face.
“Chip says love you too.”
There was a moment of surprise that flashed across Nimo’s face before he snarled.
“What have you done to her!”
“Saved her life and given her a job.”
There was a moment of silence before Nimo frowned, the distress replaced with suspicion.
“Why are you here?”
“Because your sister got a rather disturbing email and I’m the one who can claim ignorance as to her previous affiliations.”
“You know?”
“I can neither confirm nor deny…”
“Yeah, yeah, got it. Back to the point, though, I’m stuck here. There’s no way I’m getting out of Coruscant and until my leg’s healed I’m a sitting duck. Why are you here?”
“I’m a prime.”
“I don’t follow.”
“I’m a prime and can provide you with assistance to speed up your recovery.”
“Ah. Got it.”
The two lapsed into silence and Carmelita looked pointedly at the shotgun.
“Do you mind?”
“Oh, sorry.”
