Welcome to the Omniverse, Claire Ferguson
#7
"Now!" Vendetta's panic spread onto Blink's face, who froze for a moment. She had to shake the cobwebs out of head in order to react. She threw a portal up in front of them and sprung forward. Vendetta lept up next to her and then jumped through the pink gateway into the museum. Inside, the alarm was blaring much louder then it had been outside. The Orb of Horace was sitting in front of them, inside it's glass case, but it was lightened only by a single security light that was lit from the corner of the room. The rest of the glow, aside from some dim or blinking emergency lighting, had been cut off in Psi's attempt to get the security down. Blink could hear some laser fire and gunshots, indicating the rest of the crew were in action.

"We've gotta get out of here," Blink said quickly. "The plan is compromised."

"Not yet." Vendetta was staring at the artifact in front of them. He didn't seem particularly concerned by all of the action around him. They were supposed to be in and out with little to no confrontation. But alarms were lighting the museum up. Security guards were moving and actual government soldiers were probably mobilized by now. But instead of panic and concern, as Blink had, he was moving closer and closer, calmly, to the glass case. "We're getting what we came here for."

Blink's pointy ears twitched a bit in frustration as Vendetta seemed to discount her. She would have yelled at him, had she not seen a security guard appear at the entrance to the exhibit. She quickly teleported right in front of him, catching the gun-wielding woman off guard, and threw an elbow that sent her against the wall. The female rent-a-cop put up a mild fight by throwing two punches, but Blink was able to block them both and knock her out with a hard jab. The teleporter turned around to find that Vendetta have levitated the glass case up into the air, and had the orb floating towards him.

As soon as the Orb of Horace touched the skin of the tattoo'd telekinetic, it lit up like a christmas tree. All of the curves and indents began to glow a bright white, as if it had been waiting for someone with power to come into contact with it. His body tensed for a moment as the power soaked through him, straightening up like he was being electricuted. Even the ink on the top of his bald head seemed to glow. Once he seemed to get comfortable with the sensation, his spine curled again and he relaxed. He turned towards Blink, smiling. It was not a happy smile. It was an evil smile.

It's done. Tiana, take care of Psi. Before Blink could say anything, Vendetta suddenly shoved her backwards towards a wall with a telekinetic blast. His power was strong, and she felt like she might go through it. Instead, she slammed through a glass case holding a small leather suit of armor, which cushioned her impact against the structure. I'll take care of Blink.

"What the hell?!" She asked, squirming as his held her tightly with just his powers. His hand was up towards her, but he wasn't actually near her. It an invisible ability of telekinesis that pressed her to the wall, as if holding her by her shoulders. "Are you freakin' kidding me?!" She hated when she was right. "What happened to helping the little guy against the government? To making a change?!"

"I am making a change. This whole city is going to bend underneath me. Thanks to you!"

He brought his hand back, as if he was going to throw a punch. Just as he brought it forward, towards her, she opened the palm her hand and lit up the wall behind her with energy. "Nope!" She declared, disappearing into a last minute portal. She closed it before his attack could hit her. She imagined it probably took out the wall she had been pinned against. Blink turned around to see where she had been put herself - right in the security room.

Right in front her was the the body of Psi, who was slumped dead in front of the main security room console. He had clearly been shot in his mid-section by a large projectile. Wires and organs had spilled from his cybernetically enhanced body. Her green eyes went wide as she backed up, surprised, and put a hand over her mouth. "Sorry, sweetheart," she heard near her. "Too late!"

On instinct, Blink ducked and teleported at the same time. She appeared on the other side of the room just as Tiana blasted the consoles that were behind Blink with a sawed off shotgun shell. As glass and sparks flew around the monitors, Blink teleported up close to Tiana, only to get whapped with the butt of the shotgun, causing her to stumble into the table behind Tiana with a nasty pain above her left eye.

"I never liked you, anyway," Tiana declared as she aimed the double-barrelled shotgun with one hand at Blink's head.

Blink squinted her emerald gaze up at Tiana and then swiftly brought her leg up to kick the back of the afro-girl's knee. Tiana grunted as she lost her footing, but recovered well enough to avoid Blink slicing at her with an cosmically enhanced green dagger. Blink quickly disappeared again as Tiana tried to hit her with the gun, reappearing in a portal behind her. "Got you!" Claire declared, wrapping both of her arms around Tiana - one around her chest and the other on her neck - and yanked her backwards into the gateway she had created.

On the other side, Blink released Tiana as the two fell through the air. Blink landed on the balcony overlooking the entrance lobby as Tiana fell down towards the first floor ground. She suddenly stopped moving in mid-air, caught by the telekinetic Vendetta who was situated on the ground floor. "Oh, thank Omni." Tiana exclaimed, clearly happy she didn't go splat.

"Don't move." Blink heard. Her eyes shifted so she could see out of her peripheral vision. Rufus stood next to her, pistol in his head, aiming at her head. She couldn't see past his sunglasses, but she imagined his gaze was not friendly.

Claire remained calm, gripping the rail of the balcony as she looked down at the scene. There were bodies - most were unconscious but she could tell some were dead - littered around the hall. Tank and Turk were also among the casualties, both laying together near the wall. She had no doubt Vendetta had something to do with it. "Rufus," Blink began. "Don't do this. Vendetta is bad news. Just like I said."

"Shut up." He ordered.

Down below, Tiana was still hovering in the air. Vendetta had one arm up, supporting her levitation with his powers. "You were supposed to do a job. You failed." He stated. He was obviously referring to the fact that Blink was still breathing. "I expected better from you, Tiana."

"V, hold on now..." Tiana was saying, but then her voice began to crack. It got high pitched and loud until she was squealing into the museum lobby. "Vendetta, wait! Hold on! Aiiiii-urk!" Her ear-rattling scream was immediately muzzled as her head and body were yanked in opposite directions, cracking her spine and shutting her up. Her body was tossed sideways, into the glass of the museum's front doors. The shattering of the entrance opened way for the sirens that were outside to be heard much louder.

Rufus finally broke contact with Blink to look down and see the carnage. Vendetta, the leader of the supposed Coruscant Freedom Fighters, had just killed his bodyguards and his right-hand woman. Not to mention his tech guy was dead and the teleporter they hired had been marked, too. "What the hell, V?" He asked, almost rhetorically.

"Rufus, kill her," Vendetta said sternly. "Stormtroopers are coming in soon. She's a distraction."

Rufus' eyes grew as he collected the words and processed them rather slowly. Blink watched as he slowly gathered all the facts about his former boss in his head. "Vendetta. What have you done?"

"This is bigger then them, Rufus," Vendetta slowly began to rise up in the air. The Orb of Horace glowed bright in his hand, illuminating his face. Despite the calmness in his voice, he had a big bright toothy smile across his painted mug. It only made him look that much more sinister. "This is about bringing justice to the city. This is about rooting out the corruption. Our way."

"But...Tiana..." Rufus backed up. The gun was lowered by Blink's ear towards the ground. "Psi. The brothers. What was the point?"

"It never going to be about them, Rufus. It was always about you and me. From the beginning."

Blink glanced between the two of them, but didn't move yet. She knew that Vendetta was expecting her to teleport, and didn't want to give him the chance to stop her or follow her through a portal. Rufus was no longer paying attention to her, instead completely focused on the man in front of him. "No," he said. His fingers gripped the pistol as his other hand pulled the other out of it's holster. "It was never about us. This whole thing...it was always about...you!"

Gunfire. Twice. Rufus shot the guns towards his former friend and watched as they were stopped in mid-air by an invisible telekinetic shield. Vendetta had his hand out as he hovered right in front of the balcony, keeping the bullets floating in the air. "That's a shame, Rufus. You were the one I liked." He then blasted the two bullets back towards him.

"No!" Claire lept in front of Rufus and put up her own energy shield, bouncing the projectiles away. She had a moment to question exactly what she was doing - why she had gotten herself into this mess. And then she realized she was staring an overpowered telekinetic in the face, with just a duel-pistol-wielding renegade at her back.

"Put down your weapons and surrender!" The lines were shouted into a megaphone from outside the museum. Vendetta looked down to see stormtroopers rushing into the main lobby, aiming their blasted up at him. Blink had a moment to realize was going on and then spun around. "Put your weapons d-"

"Hang on!" She shouted at Rufus, who didn't have time to register what was going on. She wrapped her arms around him and lept forward, sending both of them through a portal to anywhere-but-there.

They landed on a mattress.
