Chara. A useless name to me, but I felt like it meant something important. Considering she knew so much about what had happened to me in my own world, I thought that she was a demon from my own world that possessed a child. Yet her MO was so different than the zombiemans. For one thing, she intelligent rather than the slobbering meat puppets of other former human, and she lacked the sickly green skins or wounds of their first death. Was she something new altogether? The Omniverse was vast and pulled things from the entire universe. Who knows if she was fucking with my head or there was something there between her insults.
When I turned her into bloody chunks, then maybe I'll find out.
The dodgy ankle-biter kept it up, her jabs struck closer to my heart than I would have every wished. You don't tell a man his pet rabbit didn't love him! But as I sunk further down into anger, I realized what she was trying to do. It's something I've seen before. Hell, it has been something I've done plenty of times, throwing insults and taunts until they're too wrapped up in their selves to do anything intelligent. I gave one last glare toward the little killer. She seemed content to mock me rather than focus on attacking. I took a deep breath, resharpened my focus, and reached back for something at my belt before I charged back into the fray.
Each step hurt as I hobbled over to the loon, but I didn't have time to bleed. The two of us had weapons ready, but I had a plan. As we got into melee range, I pulled the primer on the smoke grenade and dropped it between us, covering both of us in a thick fog. I could hear the knife swing widely in front of Chara, and with a few pumps of the jet pack I easily dodged over her head. As long as she couldn't see where my attacks were coming from and she was on my radar, then I had the advantage.
"You know what I think?" I asked as I rummaged through my arsenal. I couldn't see her face, but I could imagine Chara's creepy smile as she talked.
"Oh, is this going to be your excuse for all the pain you've caused? I'd love to hear it, maybe it'll be original for once" She shouted back, and a wave of red energy flew off towards where I stood a few seconds ago.
"I think you talk too much!" Any reply was drowned out as the super shotgun roared and leveled the area in buckshot. A meaty smack meant I hit SOMETHING, and I followed through with a rev of my chainsaw. I saw the red dot jump away again, out of the cloud and away from the tearing death of a chainsaw to the face.
But It was just to scare her away. I grabbed one of the many does of stimm at and my disposal and jabbed it into my neck. The pain of the gashes in my leg and and stomach slowly started to dull, although it wouldn't stop the blood flow.
I needed to finish this. Whatever happened afterwards I would handle as I always did.
