I don't beat myself up about it. Beating myself up about it associates doing that thing with anxiety. It makes a negative feedback loop that accomplishes nothing.
I find that motivation comes and goes and that's okay. When I feel excited about doing something (like creating new moves, or writing) I do it! When I don't, I don't force myself. Life is too short to do shit you don't enjoy.
Maybe it comes with maturity, or the above, but I tend to just do chores as soon as possible. Then I know it's out of my mind and I can focus on doing things that I DO enjoy!
