Then suddenly, I read "Surprise Skull".
I don't know whose move it is, but all I can think of is this monstrosity shouting "SURPRISE!" taking a skull out of its pocket and going "Skull."
That would be the "Burning skull-fireball from the opposite side of the screen" trick.
