The Searing Sword
#13
The sergeant chuckled as he fastened the stuncuffs, pinning the now-prisoner’s hands behind his back. The interloper had yet to stop making demands, even when at the trooper’s mercy. “I’ve no intention to hurry on your account,” he muttered, shaking his head. He stood behind the armored man, blaster leveled at the small of his ‘back’ -or at least where Roche approximated it to be. “Go. I assume you know the way back.”

Scope let out a dissatisfied grunt as two figures emerged from the warehouse. One of them was unmistakably a fellow trooper, likely the Sergeant that dispatch had mentioned. The other figure, evidently the sniper’s mark, was bound and leading the procession back toward the upper tiers. He sighed, lowering his slugthrower as the men continued down the road. He replaced the firearm in the harness on his back, keeping his eyes trained on the mark. Though it was looking like he wouldn’t be spending any ammunition today, he had orders to follow. Without a second thought, the specialist turned and dashed down the stairs, mounting his speeder and taking off toward the escort. He resolved to tail the duo, taking care not alerting them to his presence.

”Sergeant, has Specialist Scope made contact?”

Roche once more sealed his helmet, deactivating the speakers. “No, no need. The subject surrendered. En route to the upper tiers as we speak.”

”Very good,” the tinny timbre of his communicator echoed within the plasteel helm. ”Over and out.”

“Sir, glad to see you’re alright.”

Roche turned his attention for a moment, catching sight of his men emerging from a dilapidated building. Having been forced to part with their weaponry, they had taken up what few bits and bobs they could find; from crowbars to broken table legs, the clone troopers were prepared for a scuffle. They quickly closed the distance, filing into position behind their commander. “Aye,” the Sergeant said, reactivating his helmet’s speakers. “The subject surrendered. We’ll be taking him back with us. Disperse evenly around the two of us, we can’t be sure what this Prime is capable of.”

The septet of troopers nodded, fanning out and encircling the duo. Makeshift weaponry in hand, they kept their eyes trained on the prisoner. After watching their commander be taken hostage once already, they were intent on keeping such an event from recurring. Maintaining a tight formation, they followed their commander and his quarry toward the upper tiers.
