Matrix suddenly burst out into a roaring laughter. Not much amused the stoic and perpetually grumpy sprite, but this man’s fervor and streak of justice was too much for him. The man he was speaking with remained calm, with even a bit of a smile, but the other two were watching the green sprite far more carefully. Matrix noted their shifted stances and waved a hand to dismiss any notions of violence or mockery.
“I’m sorry, it’s just a relief to see someone like you,” Matrix apologized. “Everyone in this place is so self-centered and self-serving, and in this of all verses I meet you three, trying stop these 'beasts' as you call them for no other reason than they're acting like a bunch of viruses.”
Matrix shook his head. He had to admit, even he was focused only on himself and his friends. His quest to find a way out of the Omniverse had lead him from one objective to another. Even the favors he’d done for Cinnabar were with his own intentions in mind.
He paused, and thought for a moment. That fight was occurring in the Nexus. There was no telling how long it would last, especially with the warped passage of time in the Omniverse. He certainly didn’t want to wander through it and get caught up with his old allies and enemies from the Hero’s Graveyard again, so it made sense to wait.
Matrix studied the man in the brief silence. The man reminded him of Bob. He reminded him of the Guardians. Matrix could stand to be a little more altruistic. He’d helped countless systems come back from the brink in his travels back to Mainframe with AndrAIa and Frisket. How was being trapped in the Omniverse any different.
“You’re helping the innocents around here?” Matrix asked, with a small smirk. “I want in.”
