Somerled watched on, hammer at the ready, as one big armored man tried to talk the other one down, and for one stupid moment, he allowed himself to get hopeful. Perhaps the collateral damage would stop here and he wouldn’t have to renew his fucking contract for another year. An angry shout of some sort shattered those hopes, and the new weapon in the intruder’s hand ruined any chance the monster had at getting out of this job.
A great lump of fire and metal sped out of the rocket launcher, bearing down on the group. Somerled let out a garbled celtic curse, and swung his arms forward haphazardly, bringing the hammer around to hopefully slam the explosive out of the air. The huge metal mallet missed horribly, hitting nothing but air, and suddenly the monster’s entire body was ripped to the side, away from the rocket.
Searing heat overwhelmed Somerled’s senses, drowning out even the tremendous blast the explosive had given off, before fading away quickly as the weight of the hammer dragged him away from the explosion. Metal crashed against concrete, and the breath was driven from his lungs as his slammed into the head of the hammer.
The storm spirit coughed roughly, silently thanking physics and the wonderful thing called momentum in his head. Releasing his death grip on his weapon, he sprang to his feet and scanned the rooftop, searching out the green-clad soldier. Soon, his gaze fell upon not only his prey, but the entire group of people giving chase. A faint scraping sound reached Somerled’s ears as he lifted the mallet back off the ground.
Wind bursted at the monster’s back, driving him forward and bringing him to his full sprint faster than he normally would have reached it due to being impeded by the weight of the hammer. Concrete and stone blurred past, and he found himself closing quickly on the group, which was once again embroiled in a fight.
Gunfire and similar blasts emanated from the clusterfuck, much more silent than Somerled would have liked. Various mouths opened and closed, voicing some sort of grievances, but too silent to be heard over the din of their weaponry. A cruel grin spread across his face as he closed the distance. His mouth opened of its own accord, unheard words escaping it as his other half tried in vain to dissuade him from his next action.
With the green asshole’s back to him, apparently distracted by the white and blue colored weirdo, Somerled surged forward. He awkwardly sprinted past his big armored ally, cutting into his line of fire, and his hammer lifted high above his head, already way past the point of no return. The monster’s entire being strained as he forced the massive hammer downwards, and with an unexpected rapidity and awareness for, his foe whipped around, bringing a gun to bear. A gun wouldn’t win against momentum, however, and the human dove out of the way.
CRACK
Concrete exploded under the immense power, violently throwing stone shrapnel about. A dull rattle shook Somerled’s body and he was nearly forced to the ground from the huge momentum. The monster straightened back up with as much haste as he could manage, letting go of his weapon in the process. He spun on his heels towards the direction he saw the Doomguy dive, finding, much to his surprise, that the big grey whatever had him in its grasp. At this sight, Somerled cackled, half under his breath.
Rolled right into him.
Holes blasted into the behemoth’s chest, the aftermath of a surprisingly silent gunshot. Its grip didn’t falter however, and instead, its mouth opened up in some sort of inaudible shout.
Who needs hearing anyway?
More holes began puncturing various parts of the giant, finally breaking its grip. Somerled surged forward as the soldier wriggled free from its grip and dove away. A burst of wind at the monster’s back brought him even closer to his foe, who was already rising from his roll, bringing his gun up and leveling it at him.
The muzzle flashed as one round fired off, causing him to stumble for a brief moment, before another gust of wind closed the last of the distance between them. Brilliant white light blinded both of them for a brief moment. Another shockwave rippled through Somerled’s body as his strike simultaneously exploded his hand into gore and forced the soldier to the ground, hard. He spared a glance towards his poor left hand, noticing that it was now nothing more than a burned and cauterized stump.
There was no point in mourning the loss of his hand, it’d grow back eventually. Bones pierced the ground where his foe had just been, just barely inside Somerled’s vision, telling him that he should get moving again. His gaze shot back over to the green armored berserker, worse for wear but already back on his feet and gunning for the skeleton.
Let’s make him stay down.
He was damn sturdy for a human. With only one hand to his name, the storm spirit would be hard pressed to end this durable motherfucker without the aid of a tornado, which would take far too long to call down. There always was his other half, however. Faster results, bigger explosion.
“Burn it all away, Sonny!” The monster shouted, his voice drawing the attention of the soldier again. Intense, crushing pain erupted in his head, his vision shuddering as power was ripped from him. Beautiful sunlight coalesced in front of Somerled, quickly hardening and becoming the sun spirit, radiating with an already painful heat, and ready to explode.
