I broke this post into its own thread as the answer is kinda long and could warrant discussion.
Generally it's better to put everything for a quest in its own thread for sake of record-keeping and whatnot, but I don't see why you couldn't do a quest across more than one thread. Just be sure to link all applicable threads when turning in said quest.
Yes, you can buddy with a friend for a quest. In terms of word count, you're correct in assuming that someone playing a very small role would not get a Quest Completion reward, just a participation bonus for what they contributed. In regards to completion, it's my understanding that the word count would be doubled in terms of requirement. Two people should look to contribute approximately 50/50, I'd say, though they can do whatever ratio they like. If there is a large enough difference that a person is 'disqualified' from Quest Completion, their words would not count toward the requirement (like 99:1).
