Nexus Battle Royale — Threat Elimination Protocol (PvP)
#15
What was this feeling? Something was different than before. Something about Mister Kanda had... altered his ability. He remembered that he had tried to stop... he had tried to prevent... THIS. But something within the human had held fast to him. It had drawn him in... and created an abomination.

No... this was impossible. Ever since that fateful day in that hallway, Smith's... unique ability had functioned properly. His code would overwrite the host and a new... him would be born from the infection. Why? Why had things been different this time? What had gone wrong? The program's mind struggled to wrap itself around what had happened.

Foreign thoughts and emotions intruded upon Smith's mind. Human concepts like honor and hope found purchase within his programming. The ex-Agent rebelled against his attack on his very self. As he did so, his physical form stumbled to and fro, it's form fluctuating violently between that of the samurai and his own. The two who had become one fought for control of their new body, a battle not of thought or form, but of personality.

So caught up in their own struggle, the fused entity failed to register the Harbinger's approach. The behemoth towered over them as they fought for dominance over their form, and it laughed in sinister mirth at their plight.

Fool...” it said, its skull blazing with multi-hued flame. “You failed to realize that this was no longer your fight, Smith. It is ours. Had you stayed aside, you might have lived to see our new age. But, for the insolence of trying to take our prize, you will share his fate. You've sealed your doom, Smith, and that of Yu Kanda's as well.

The creature's fist flew towards Smith and Yu Kanda, a blow which could shatter stone causing the air to whistle around it. Smith could see what force it had... what it would do if it connected. A shattered body within a large crater... a familiar sight to the program. There would be nothing left of him after that.

“No,” the gestalt spoke softly as the blow streaked towards them. In an instant, he had moved aside, and the Harbinger's fist struck the Nexus ground with an earthshaking force. The Harbinger's strength was second to none... but that did not mean it was invincible. More and more of Yu Kanda's hopeful ignorance... of the man itself, copied onto Smith, but it didn't matter any longer. Before, he had been complacent in merely watching the battle unfold. Before, he had been fighting against the creature... his allies being beaten aside as easily as himself. But no longer. There was no option for escape. No chance for mercy. This Harbinger would destroy them, if they did not fight back. And... just like that, Smith and Mister Kanda found a reconciliation in their conflicting personalities. In the desire to live, they found the ability to fight together.

The Harbinger straightened to its fully erect form, staring down upon the union before it.

Surprising to think that you could avoid our attack. But it's useless to resist. You've simply delayed what would have been a merciful end, fool.

“Agent Kanda, if you'd please,” the Harbinger's foe replied. In one hand, they held the strange sword Mister Kanda had found earlier. And in the other... a large caliber handgun. While the beast had yet been registering their unexpected movement, they had not been idle. The loud retort of a firearm reverberated around the area as Agent Kanda let loose a volley of rounds towards the beast. And... as tough as it was, it seemed that the rounds WERE, in fact, hurting it. Or, at the least, annoying it.

Perhaps this was the key to victory... to keep the thing at range. With the distance, Agent Kanda was able to predict and avoid its flaming skulls and other ranged attacks far more easily than they could have avoided in close. Even so... the conclusion to this battle was inevitable. Though Agent Kanda was far more powerful together than they had been separately, the Harbinger was beyond any being's comprehension in its strength. It was all they could do to simply avoid the beast, and even that was largely due to the Harbinger seemingly toying with them. It seemed the behemoth was enjoying this, slight, challenge to it and it was obvious it was holding itself back in order to lengthen its pleasure.

With growing apprehension, the Agent realized this wouldn't work. The beast was far too powerful to be taken down in such a manner. As they had surmised before, it was perfect. Yet... even so, the Agent could not give up. Yu Kanda's incessant desire to do good and his pitiful hope would allow no retreat, and Smith's own pride would allow no surrender. And perhaps the Harbinger's own arrogance would... wait... yes... that might work. The Harbinger might be all-powerful, but perhaps it wasn't perfect after all. As both Smith and Mister Kanda were well aware, even the most powerful beings had a weak point. But this would have to be played out carefully.; the Harbinger was not a fool. It had to continue to believe it had the upper-hand, until the... opportune moment presented itself to the Agent.

Again and again the two fusions launched attacks at one another, and though the Agent had gotten a few good shots in initially, the Harbinger was already beginning to learn their combat style. Fewer shots hit its steel-like body and its own attacks came closer and closer to hitting Agent Kanda with every volley. Suddenly, it appeared that the Harbinger had tired of their little game. It was upon them in an instant, effortlessly avoiding their gun fire and swatting away the Desert Eagle with a hand-stinging slap. Its other hand closed about their neck and lifted them to face it.

I admit, you provided us with some... mild entertainment. But we've grown bored with your antics, mortal. But, do not be dismayed. Though you die now, you may rest well in the knowledge that you were one of the first to witness our glorious rise.

Agent Kanda pried at the Harbinger's hand with his own and struggled to reply through the vice-like grip of the Harbinger. That grip lessened slightly as it saw their plight and it leaned in close to hear their words.

You have something to say, Agent Kanda? Very well. What are your last words?

A grin formed on the Agent's face as he spoke.

“Chidori.”

The two mighty warriors were blasted apart by the eruption of power which launched itself towards the Harbinger's jaw from the sword pressed between them. A great smoke concealed them from the other combatants and those who merely watched the fight. Had the Agent's gambit paid off? Was the Harbinger beaten back? Only the clearing of the air would tell.

Quote:Smith and Kanda have fused. We've also used the Chidori Blade on the Harbinger.

Less that 1200 words, according to the site.
