It was sure looking like quite an eclectic bunch of people that had responded to his call for a game. Honestly, he hadn't been expecting much. Put out the call, get no answer at all, and go on with his business as usual....whatever the fuck that 'business' was. But instead, he'd gotten a few responses back to his dataverse posting. With no small amount of incredulity, he had spawned up copies of the appropriately legendary tomes and rulebooks, and sent them off via mechanical courier. Days passed, and soon enough the dawn of game night was upon him.
Shuffling in to the very suitably-lit room — just enough light to see everything clearly, but still dim enough to set proper dungeon-crawling mood — the young former time god fished out his own copies of the rulebooks and manuals, and his own stack of folders and notebooks for all manner of personal notes, depositing the mess on the table with a resounding thwap, and raising a billowing cloud of dust. "Man...been a long time...shit's dusty..." he wheezed out, waving the offending plume of grit away from his face.
Pulling up his hood, Adam took his place at the head of the table as he went about hurriedly setting up this and that. From what he had gathered, most of the poor saps that had gotten wind of his call to play had never even heard of Dungeons and Dragons, much less played it...luckily for him this wasn't his first rodeo with explaining to hopeless newcomers the basics of playing this most legendary of nerd pastimes. He was a certified kind of professional at it or something.
"As long as nothing catches fire this time....I'll be happy."
And all he could do was wait for this motley crew of strangers to arrive. And hope his directions had been clear enough.
