A Dame to Kill For.
#11
The perp wasn't getting up. This was odd, considering most Primes had a preference to go down kicking and screaming, not that it ever did them any good. It was really rather suspicious. Dredd steadied his aim and crept closer to Jacket, tapping the side of his helmet to try and get some vitals on the masked man. From this distance, it was clear that his heartbeat was still strong, and that his breathing was regular. Dredd frowned; something odd was going on here, but he didn't have time to dwell on it. There was still another suspect on the loose and he needed to track her down while the drone still had a fix on her location.

With all the gravitas of swatting a fly, the Judge squeezed the trigger on his pistol firmly, unleashing a four-shot burst which summarily perforated Jacket's skull with extreme prejudice. Dredd glared over the muzzle of his firearm, through the gently whisping smoke that quickly blended with Tier Seven's hazardous atmosphere. No movement detected. Not wanting to leave anything to chance, Dredd rapidly shuffled over and tore the grotesque mask off of the perp's face. Two fingers to the neck confirmed the absence of a heartbeat, and the letterman didn't seem like the type to be able to fake a stopped heart.

"Suspect One: Execution confirmed. Proceeding to Suspect Two." he reported to no one in particular. It didn't matter that Dispatch couldn't hear him; protocol had to be followed. It was the Law. Just a moment later, Dredd hopped on to his Pursuit Swoop and shot off into the smoggy sky, the repulsorlifts leaving swirling eddies of vapor in their wake.

Precisely seven minutes and twenty three seconds later, Dredd pulled to halt outside some clapboard excuse for a dive bar. Normally, on any of the higher tiers, he would be able to use cameras inside the establishment to see just what was going on. Whatever it was, it was still quiet. Guess it he would have to do this the old fashioned way. Walking with grim determination, Dredd emerged from the smog of Tier seven, knocking on the shabby door with the bottom of his foot. As the door outright shattered into dozens of pieces, Dredd immediately tossed a stun grenade into the dingy bar. Six screams; five male and one female. Taking a quick assessment of the situation, it appeared that a group of what could, generously, be called squatters, had surrounded the female and had been prepared to attack as a group. The clown woman was not slated for execution, yet, so the first priority was ensuring her safety. His HUD wasn't reading any of these low lifes as Imperial citizens, which meant they were fair game.

"Show stopper." Dredd growled to his gun. A faint click signified that the ordnance had been modified, and without further delay, the Judge opened fire. The high-impact rounds immediately sent the first two targets flying into the grimy walls, explosions of blood adding a little bit of color to the otherwise drab environment. Movement from the left; incoming hostile. Dredd slapped the incoming piece of rebar away from him and locked the waste of skin's arm behind his back. Judge spun the man around and immediately vacated the perp's cranium of its contents with a shot to the back of his shaggy head. Three down. By this point, the remaining two scum had managed just what was happening.

"Th-fuck...The FUCKING JUDGE?!" shouted the rotund man who had taken shelter behind his desk.

"Sounds exciting!" cried Harley, who immediately somersaulted over the rickety cover with a single hand, swiftly snapping the boss's neck, courtesy of her beloved bat. The remaining man took this opportunity to bolt out of the bar, screaming out into the nebulous gloom of Tier Seven's firelit industrial hellscape. Dredd stared blankly at the fleeing man before saying just a few simple words.

"Pursuit. Seek and destroy."

With that, there came a high pitched whine as the Judge's swoop bike came to life, slipping off into the sky of its own volition. An echoing series of thumps and screams followed a moment later, eventually blending with the thrumming ambiance of the tier. Dredd hadn't taken his eyes off of the Prime the entire time, though she had taken the liberty of taking a seat in the dead boss's lap, propping one foot up on the blood spattered desk. She twirled one pigtail idly, not bothering to glance at her...well...could he be called a savior? Nah. More like a party pooper.

"Suspect. New sentence: Extended Detention. One chance. Surrender." Dredd barked, bringing his weapon up. Harley let out a wistful sigh.

"You remind me of someone I knew." she said with a wry tone.
