Waiting for Pirate Man
#26
The arrival of the trio shifted the momentum back in the favor of Princess Sociopath. Like a lance in the grip of a charging knight, Team Neapolitan rushed into the fray, splitting apart their foes in a swift motion. Mireya cursed as she kicked off the ground and flipped backwards to avoid the arcing path of a scimitar blade.

Landing on her feet, the half-night elf steadied herself once again and leapt back at her attackers. A glittering pommel bashed aside the business end of her weapon as the female ‘fighter’ spun forward and crashed an elbow against Mireya’s chin.

“Die, villain!” Captain Vanilla shouted as she followed up the stiff elbow bash with a high kick to her foe’s sternum.

Mireya grunted as she was thrown backwards by the impact. By the time she’d regained her bearings, a shimmering blade was within inches of her neck. Dropping prone, she avoided the path of the blade and proceeded to roll hard to her left. Before Vanilla could be on her, the half-night elf was back to her feet and drawing her own short, curved blade from her belt.

Gliding across the formless floor of the Nexus, Mireya swung her sword down at the center of her opponent’s back, but before her attack could find its mark, something gray and heavy sprung from the scrawny woman’s back and crashed into the mauve-skinned woodswoman’s face and chest.

Although stunned and tasting some blood in her mouth, Mireya was up to her feet in a matter of moments. Standing a few yards away, Captain Vanilla smirked as a pair of metal angel wings moved gently in the ‘air’ behind her.

“You’re not match for the archangel of Berry Blitzkrieg, foul defiler!”

The half-night elf snickered as she reached down and drew her matching sword. “Besa mi culo, puta.”

Captain Vanilla scowled. “Stop speaking in tongues!” With that, the winged soldier rushed forward, her dash magnified by the giant set of wings behind her.

With a grimace, Mireya slid back into a defensive posture and swung her swords up to intercept the oncoming blow. Even though she saw it coming—Vanilla was anything but a martial expert—the nomad found her strength wanting as her opponent’s momentum nearly snapped her ankles.

“You’re done!” Vanilla declared as one of the wings lashed out and clipped Mireya along the right side of the face, opening up a thin red line from ear to chin.

Screaming an obscenity in a language that the captain didn’t understand, the half-night elf suddenly flung her head forward and crashed her forehead against her adversary’s nose. Blood sprayed as Vanilla’s nose crumpled inward like a stomped soda can, but before further damage could be done, the metal wings were used to swat away Mireya.

“You… you bitch!” Vanilla shouted behind a hand clenched over her now blood-marred visage. “The nose? Who does that?”

Mireya, whose face was now half covered in blood from the wound on her cheek, grinned and grabbed for her poleax.
