Reality Uncheck
#8
The blue haired teenager once again picked up her swords and seemed ready to leave for parts unknown. As the pair walked to the west, Yuuko had not noticed the small specs in the distance immediately. She was still getting used to the idea of walking on invisible ground and truth be told had no clue that they were even traveling 'west'. Her first few steps away from the fountain were a bit hesitant but she walked with purpose after awhile. She would never call herself the adventurous type but she felt she could adapt fairly well. After all, if she didn't learn to live with the weirdness that accompanied her, Yuuko would have died thirty times over by now.

It was only after a few more minutes of walking that the specks became noticeable to her as well. The Valis Warrior squinted her eyes as if to try to make out the objects in the distance. It was no easy feat considering that the objects were only a slightly different shade of white moving upon the bleached landscape and the pale colored sky. She soon gave voice to her concerns, "Um....I don't think those specks are part of the landscape." Yuuko heard Morene confirm her thoughts, "They appear to be men in white armor. A good camouflage choice given the area."

The silence that the duo had enjoyed up to this point was slowly being replaced by the faint sound of distant engines coming closer to their location. The specks quickly grew more defined as they were indeed humanoids in matching armor. The armored men were riding on vehicles that appeared to bikes without wheels that hovered above the ground. It soon became clear that there were six men riding in pairs upon their futuristic bikes. Yuuko wondered if it would be better to get out of their way or change directions, but she rejected the notion. They were in a strange place and these were the first people they spotted besides each other.

She hopefully commented, "While I'm not sure its a good idea...maybe they'll be friendly? I just hope they understand Japanese at least half as well as you do, Miss Morene. I can speak English but...well, it was not my best subject." Yuuko noticed a thoughtful expression on Morene's face as she heard the elder woman reply, "...I think Omni has another hand in that. To me, you are the one speaking my language perfectly." In the few minutes before the stormtroopers would arrive, Yuuko tested Morene's theory. She switched languages from Japanese to english and spoke, "Do. you. understand. what. I. say? My. English. is. not. well." In those two sentences, it became crystal clear that English was not her first language at all. She spoke in an accent and her words were broken up as she thought about them. Morene for her part merely commented, "We should stick with native languages. At least nothing will be lost in translation."

Yuuko's hope bolstered a little, If we can talk to them, we can try to learn more about this world.

The speeders slowed to a stop 60 feet away from the duo in a V formation with the front two bikes forming a barrier for the rear one. From this distance, it was easy to tell that all of them were armed as blaster rifles hung from their shoulders. The soldiers on the forward bikes looked towards the rear one. The driver of the third bike had the same armor as the rest but he wore a red shoulder pad over his right shoulder. Thanks to their helmets, it was impossible to see their expressions but the tone of his voice betrayed his annoyance. He muttered a little louder than he intended, "...Radar picks up activity near the fountain and all we get are two unknown primes." He shouted a little louder to his men, "Stay alert! Keep an eye out for priority targets and those tin can knights."

After he gave his orders, he turned towards Morene, "Listen well prime, if you keep going in this direction, you'll reach Coruscant, the greatest city in all of the Omniverse. You are welcome to enter there so long as you don't cause trouble. You primes have a bad habit of breaking reality where ever you go. I don't care if you can shoot lasers out your eyes, belch up fire or make it rain toads, do NOT cause trouble in the Emperor's City." Yuuko tilted her head in surprise as she commented, "Those are odd traits but I can safely say I can't do any of th-" The captain of the unit immediately cut her off, "Quiet. The adults are talking here."

A small frown grew on Yuuko's face as it seemed apparent the squad captain was more willing to talk to Morene instead of her.

Am I invisible to him?
