For what was very, very far from the first time — even just on this one morning bus ride — mister Crow went ignored, and lapsed back into muttering. The old guy was a certifiable crazy case with an extra helping of the loco sprinkles on the side, but he knew what he was doing. Adam had heard the stories. Probably a little shaken and ruffled, but never in any real danger, and always on time. Crow always got students where they were going safely and soundly....if a little green around the gills.
And as Adam almost spilled out of his seat, trying to split his attention between remaining upright, and listening to Amber's riveting re-telling of events, he was finding out exactly what that meant. He was already feeling a little green himself.
"Yeah...yeah...god archer...almost killed an NPC....good king beheader the merchant...uh-huh... Ghk..." He shook his head. "We sure got some fun faces in the crowd this time..." He was muttering darkly to himself by this point, adjusting his glasses. "Some of them need a d4 in their shoes....or a six pack of them..." He huffed as he witnessed a confrontation between the 'oh so popular' king jock on campus, the captain of the whatever it was sportsball alliance, Solomon Grundy....and some poor little green kid who thought it would be cool to steal from him.
"That's a natural 1 on common sense for cabbage patch....aaaaand then a natural 20 on narrowly avoiding death." He shot a sidelong glance at Amber. "This is an omen, you realize that. An omen that things are going to go absolutely god damn awful."
