Day 2 Evening
#20
As a result from the cybernetic demon goat apocalypse, blood combined with remnants of flesh went as far as Orihime's eyes could see. Dirt and blood covered her body so much that she could not differentiate between the two of them. It did not matter, nothing did anymore. Eight strong, capable warriors and yet still some had fallen. Why did this happen? She had just saved him the night before and the vision of his tearful eyes calling out to her before death burned into her subconscious. “This is my fault.” she croaked softly while gasping for air. If the poor conflicted warrior had not met fate with the devastation of her energy pulsing blades he might still be here. It did not make sense why Jak was gone, how could she save his life and then the next instance he be dead.

This experience made her realize she really was weak without her healing powers and the fact that she did not have them today was nature's cruel poetic justice.

“I could have saved all of them” she whimpered between sobs while staring at her hands, covered in the blood of the other fallen. The pain she was feeling right now was worse than the wound from battle, it was indescribable.

Feeling faint, she dropped down to one knee, the tears collecting in a pool upon the blood-covered rock. It was only then did she feel the heavy weight of something foreign in her pocket. Reaching inside she found a knife, a seemingly ordinary knife at best. On the surface it did not look like anything spectacular, with an similar appearance of the one she had back at her apartment that she would use to open up packages and the metal pins that tie together her vegetables. “Oh no, is this really all that he had?” Orihime wondered as she glossed over the knife’s smooth surface with her blood stained hands. This man, whoever he was, he really was a hero and he perished as a hero. Even though that beast was the created out of a twisted nightmare, this man still charged the beast until the very end. She was going to use this knife as the strength she needed to carry on through the rest of this quest.

“You will not die in vain my good friends” Orihime promised while putting her keepsake back in folds of her dress. She was then interrupted by the voices of her colleague Sasuke and someone else arguing loudly.
