Erik fell to the ground in a daze. He turned to see the strange man who could control the weather leaving. Even turning caused pain to shoot up Erik's spine. He was in near constant agony from being burned by the sun, but at least Link was safe. That made the pain more than worth it. Yuki was in a similar position as him, burnt all over and bleeding. Erik realised that the woman with wolf ears had torn some of her clothing to make bandages.
"I cannot thank you enough." Erik said quietly to the woman. "I chose to save Link, I had accepted death, but you helped keep Yuki alive when I couldn't. I greatly appreciate it." With those words, Erik slowly limped over to check in his ally. The young man was conscious and alive, but barely so, much like Erik himself. The psychic sat down and watched the slowly setting sun.
"You know Yuki," Erik said, a small smile creeping across his face. "It looks like I got the short end of the stick when it came to weaponry." Erik chuckled at his own joke while Yuki look slightly incredulously at the man beside him. Burnt and bruised, yet still able to laugh at his own expense?
"Hey, Erik?" Yuki said, "Aren't you upset about bleeding out?" Erik looked at the teenager as if he were some naive child.
"No Yuki, I'm not." Erik said. "We will always come back. We have infinite lives. The thing is, I didn't waste this one, my death was not in vain. Link will survive, I can feel it." Erik grinned. The psychic's optimism was somewhat comforting to the teenager. Erik watched as the sun began to meet with the horizon. Now this was something that he could die happy to, although he still had a few more hours left to live. Erik turned to the woman for a moment.
"I will follow you if there is somewhere that you need to be, if you are ok with me coming with you. I won't be here much longer anyway." Erik said, before turning back to the sunset.
