The journey to the Nexus didn’t take as long as she thought it would.
As she stepped through the gate, Mireya was immediately assaulted by the visual and audio carnage associated with the melee near the fountain.
Mierda…
Even at her distance, the half-night elf could see just how frentic the fight had become. The air was filled with rockets, bullets, and all sorts of strange appendages and random things that could be propelled by compressed air or gunpowder.
Something tells me I should have brought some more heat… The woman glanced down at her waist and the other weapons she held. She had a great arm, but something told her that she’d be at a disadvantage throwing a chakram against a bazooka.
I’ve dealt with worse.
Clenching the poleax, Mireya broke into a sprint—her eyes surveying the oncoming madness for the tiny princess. As she drew closer, she had to slow down to navigate the web of collateral damage from the assortment of primes. Some sort of penguin thing absorbed an impact from a handheld rocket and erupted with enough force to stagger the jogging woman.
With a grunt, Mireya fell forward and rolled in an attempt to turn an awkward stumble into a pseudo-graceful roll. When she was upright again, her eyes fell on a faceoff between the little pink princess and an equally diminutive figure with black hair, green eyes, and dress that matched her eyes.
“Bonbon.” The half-night elf spat as the haggard, goo-drenched princess rose to her feet and scowled. At the sound of the non-human’s voice, the xenophobic monarch seemed to twitch, as if struck a heavy blow to the gut.
“And what immigrant slum did Guu drag you out of?” Bonbon inquired as she held up her elegant scimitars.
“Chinga tu madre,” Mireya replied with a grin as the princess scowled.
“Enough, enough,” Bonbon groaned. “Disgusting,” she added as she rushed forward and swung her scimitars.
Despite the princess’s quickness, Mireya had the maneuver telegraphed, and she slipped back and arched her poleax inward to intercept the blows. With a defiant clang, the glimmering swords smacked angrily against the wooden haft and failed to bit through.
Angry words formed on Bonbon’s lips, but before they could find air, Guu’s fist crashed against her jaw. As the black-haired monarch lost her balance, Mireya twisted and smashed the blunt end of her weapon against her foe’s skull, knocking the smaller woman off her feet.
Twirling the poleax back to its normal position, Mireya flashed a warm smile to Guu. “Nice day for a party, Princess?”
