Day 10, Week 1 - The Step One before the Step One
#20
Leah's left eyelid twitched as the damned fool rambled on and on. She respected part of him, and the other...lets just say that she would bat an eye if he was ruthlessly ripped apart in the most unmerciful way possible. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she tried to stay calm, she really did. Counted to ten and everything... Nope. Still pissed. Summoning her knife, she was suddenly at his throat, the blade lightly touching the skin on his neck.

"You listen here, Ballad, and listen well. You would be dead where you stand if Koal wasn't so damned attached to you. I can't do that to him. Not yet. He's fragile enough already as it is." Her eyes softened and her voice dropped down to a whisper as she spoke of her young companion, before hardening into daggers when she looked back at the divided gunslinger. His face was going through a myriad of changes, from pissed off all the way to fearful respect.

She bared her fangs at him, letting out a hiss between her teeth. "You warned Koal before, so now I am going to warn you. If anything happens to Koal, you'll have a rat's smile carved into your throat before you know it." The Angel left the threat hanging in the air, the tension in the room rising as they glared at each other. Leah turned away, sheathing the knife on her upper thigh as she stalked across the small cavern. She wanted out of this place. She kneeled down by her ward, inspecting his face for signs of unease, checking his breathing to discern whether or not he was in a deep sleep. As a matter of fact, he seemed to be waking up.

She shook his shoulder gently, speaking softly, "Koal, get up. We have work to do. Places to go, shit to retrieve for your slave-master friend. Fun stuff." She shot a look at Ballad with malice in her eyes. Koal got up from the floor, stretching his limbs and looking at Leah with a confused expression. She read the question in his eyes and quickly shot out a response, I wanted some fresh air and a word with your...friend." She handed Koal his pack and gave him a gentle nudge towards the door, following behind him.

"I'll be back soon, Commander. Don't wait up for me!" The sarcastic young man could help the smart ass comments, but they were funny as hell. He walked out of the cave, the blizzard they had struggled through earlier now a moderate snowfall. Time to get moving. He looked at Leah, and she looked at him. They shared a nod and took of at a sprint.
