Day 10, Week 1 - The Step One before the Step One
#16
All was silent for a second.

And then Koal started to laugh. It was a quiet chuckle, at first, his deep voice reverberating throughout the small cavern. Then it began to get louder, with an edge of insanity to it and got louder still. But the smile that came with the laugh never reached his eyes. Oh his eyes, they hadn't turned red like all the other times. His eyes were completely black, the pupil seemingly have taken over his entire eye. He turned and looked at Ballad with a feral grin, taking a confident step forward.

"Sob story? You think I'm doing this for ATTENTION!?" His eyes changed into a swirling mix of violet and black, the campfire in the center of the cavern changing color as well, it's hue darkening into a deep red color. The color of freshly drawn blood. "You think I give a damn about attention? I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO HAVE NEVER GONE THROUGH WHAT I HAVE!" His eyes blazed as he stepped toward Ballad, tears forming. But he refused to let them fall.

" I WAS A GOOD PERSON! I HAD NEVER SPILLED A DROP OF BLOOD IN MY LIFE UNTIL THIS HORRID PLACE BECAME MY HOME!" His scythe had appeared in his left hand, glowing with an energy that commanded attention. But it's angelic glow was gone, replaced by the dark tendrils of darkness. A demon's aura.

He slammed the weapon into the cave wall, the enchanted metal sliding into the stone cavern wall as if it were butter. Cracks spread from the site of impact, and the small space echoed with the sound of the blow. The shadows of the cavern began to wave and dance, the demonic energy commanding their allegiance. A layered whispering came from the shadows, tiny voices of doubt and fury coming from every direction. "You want to stop a war, well you're just one man. you might be immortal. But we're a dime a dozen here, Ballad. The people of these land are probably well-versed in the art of eradicating primes." The shadows became silent, and the silence became deafening. Swirling violet and black met snow-white.

The emblem on his hand pulsed, and Koal felt his mind calm, an idea slowly forming... And it all depended on the other life form in the room.

He slowly drew his weapon from the stone that currently sheathed the blade. He walked towards Ballad with a purpose in his steps. The other man drew a gun and pointed the metal barrel at the young man's head. And Koal had no doubt that if he chose to, Ballad would not miss his shot. But he kept walking, shifting the scythe so that the blade faced away from the gunsmith. he stopped walking when he was about four feet in front of Ballad, the dark metal pressing into the reaper's forehead.

He knelt at Ballad's feet, presenting his scythe to the older man. "You claim to want peace for this world. And if that is truly your goal...Then I present my weapon and allegiance to you, Commander."
