Day 1 Evening
#48
Most people in this situation might have been worried. Weiss certainly would have been in any other circumstances. Fighting a strange monster with unknown qualities in a weakened state like this. If Weiss had been alone, or with strangers, tension would be surging through her body right now.
But she wasn't alone. She was with her best friend.`
And together, the two were stronger than any challenge Weiss could imagine.

Weiss saw the giant shift it's shoulders, and jumped up just as the giant lashed out with his rotting hand at the charging trio.

She felt her feet hit a diagonal surface - the flat of Ruby's new blade, knowing even before she'd jumped that her partner was giving her the opening to go for the first attack on the legs. Weiss took the opportunity and dove forward, rolling as she leapt past the giant's arm and landed on the ground between his legs.

Weiss looked back to see that the giant had shifted its focus away from her, lifting its arms over it's head as it targeted a nervous-looking Belle. Meanwhile the mouse... who had some weird armor on now, what?... seemed to be starting to recover his own wits.
"Buy time." Weiss thought, and she didn't need to look to know her partner would already be thinking the same thing.
Weiss jumped up with a burst of blurred motion as she twirled her body into a pinwheel, her heel catching the chunk of sword embedded in the giant's shin and causing the creature to screech as the trapped weapon bent into it's flesh.

The creature immediately shifted its attention back to Weiss, just as she saw a red blur head towards her from across the cavern.. The creature lifted its gnarled foot up, leaking… something onto the cave floor, and Weiss waited until the last moment to move, as the red blur slowed down to become a pint-sized hunter swinging a Cleaver bigger than she was with a knowing grin. Weiss back stepped out of the way, the blade and the foot missing her by a few inches. To anyone else, this might have seemed dangerous.

But Weiss had done hundreds of battles with her leader, had followed thousands of different calls her partner had made on the field. Ruby would never have went for the attack if Weiss couldn't dodge it, and the concept of Ruby intentionally or unintentionally harming her in the middle of battle didn't exist to her, so when Weiss felt the rush of air blow towards her from the arc of the buster sword, there wasn't a hint of tension on her face.

The creature seemed to react at the last second, and what could have been a missing limb was instead a shearing wound to the side of its right leg.

The giant was quick to counter though, and Weiss was surprised when she was forced on the ground by the force of it's fist slamming against the ground, knocking her off her feet so fast she barely managed to catch herself with her hands, surprised at the giant's dexterity.
What she was even more surprised by was the giant's shriek of pain as the redheaded girl appeared to the other side of the giant's leg.

The girl - Belle, wasn't it? - Had one foot planted firmly on the giant's leg, the other on the ground, and her crowbar hooked firmly around the embedded longsword Weiss had kicked before. Weiss didn't need to ask the girl's plan as she pulled, tearing out the sword with a wet crunching noise.
