Morning
The path led on and on. It seemed like Desco had been walking on it forever. However this was more in her head than reality. It had only been a half hour since Desco started down the road. She was at heart a social creature. While the little final boss handled exile in a sealed chamber well enough by essentially shutting down her mind and body, she was now active. Desco did not deal with loneliness so well.
As she fidgeted and moved down the weed infested dirt road she spotted a squirrel. It came down from a tree and was scrounging around in the thick grasses looking up every little bit to look at the demon girl. "Hello Mr. Squirrel. Desco is here all alone too. Have you seen Ururu?" The squirrel hopped to another spot to investigate. "Maybe you've seen a relic or a place that looks like it would have one? Like a creepy dungeon?" Desco didn't really expect to get a response. Though, she would not have been surprised if it had talked. Desco inched closer but the squirrel saw the approach and darted off climbing the tree and up to safety.
Desco sighed and started to walk down the dirt road again. Before she got too far away she stretched out a tentacle and ripped off a branch from the tree. She used her tentacle's sharp teeth to shave off the smaller branches with leaves attached leaving her with a single shaft walking stick. Desco didn't need it to walk though, she waved it around a bit instead. Then she started drawing in the soft earth ahead of her. Desco drew shapes and japanese words into the ground. Then faces of people she knew saying things. Most of it was nonsense. Some were crude pictures of herself, Big Sis, and/or Guu with speech bubbles of words she remembered having said or they said. Guu's faces were always
, that same emotionless expression she usually had. Desco was one of the few that has seen her 'social face' in the past. But she knew that Guu forced that expression, it didn't feel as Guuy as this one.
At some unknown amount of time later Desco was just dragging the stick along and realized she was getting hungry. The trees were thicker on one side of the road now turning into woods and she could see a bridge up ahead. She heard the spirit's voice, a warning about flooding, and someone already found a guardian! Desco had more immediate concerns. "Where does Desco get food Spirit?" Desco spoke to the sky. No reply came.
She continued on to the bridge. It wasn't a large bridge and had no railing to speak of. It spanned only 15 feet across. However it was evident that the creek below the bridge was way over its normal capacity. its waters ran quickly towards and into the forest. Was this a part of the flooding or something else? Desco knelt down and peered over the edge of the bridge. She was curious and still hungry. There were lots of fish flowing down with the rushing waters. Some seemingly caught more than swimming down. Desco didn't know how to fish. Mr. Valzy talked about it a lot, but those were sardines in the ocean. Fishing boats caught them en masse with giants nets. Desco had a stick with no string and definitely no nets.
"Desco wants fish..." Desco stared out at the water for some time. Then she realized that in TV shows they often caught fish bare handed and with sharp sticks by stabbing them! Desco could try that, if it worked on TV why wouldn't it work in real life? So she stretched out her tentacle holding the stick down into the water. While the current was strong Desco was stronger and her body was designed for aquatic environments. Submersible was her middle name. This made it easy for her tentacle to slip into and through the water for the attack. However, when Desco tried she didn't manage to make any hits.
Desco frowned and concentrated harder, but the stick broke in half as it struck and rock. She let it go. Frustrated now, she tossed three more tentacles into the water. However her eyes to tentacles coordination was not getting her any fish. Desco didn't realize she was not compensating for the refraction of light. When she just about gave up she let instinct take over and instantly each tentacle stabbed into a fish. "Yay Desco did it!" Desco stood back up bringing her tentacles back and jumped backwards onto her suddenly growing tail excited at her victory.
The next problem was how to cook these things. Since she was already taking cues from TV that meant cooking them the way TV did. She needed to shove them onto sticks and the sticks into the ground to hold them against a fire. So Desco walked up to one of the trees across the bridge. Her tentacles that weren't holding fish quickly ripped off small branches to build the start of a campfire as well as putting all the fish on sticks next to the campfire waiting to be roasted. She then tried to make fire. Desco had none of her small magic anymore and using a Super magic would be a waste and probably not leave a fire behind so she went back to TV and tried rubbing two sticks together.
After many attempts including striking rocks and other methods, Desco grew frustrated and threw her hands up into the air. "Desco can't make fire without magic! Desco will just have to eat them raw. People eat Sashimi and that is raw fish right? Big Bro eats raw sardines all the time..." They looked fishy... but she started eating them. It didn't taste very good to it like this. "Ugh.." However with her demonic strength and razor sharp fangs she easily tore through flesh and bone on the fish. Careful about the bone so as to not bite down on one the wrong way and getting hurt. She was hungry so it didn't take long before all four were gone.
