The Hero of Time took the brunt of the hit from a large piece of debris dislodged by the hulking, armored bull. He skidded to a halt with a groan, hand clenched at his stomach. He scanned the creature over, peering for any signs of weakness. Two things gleaned out at the Hylian, firstly the fur sticking out from between its armor plates, the second being the breastplate strapped to it’s back. ‘As if it didn’t have enough armor already,’ Link spoke inwardly, glancing over at his now partner, “See if you can’t distract it with your.. twig..” Another groan escaped the boy as he thrust a hand into his tunic, producing the fluorescent cube. It was an odd sensation, not knowing what the item was, but somehow knowing exactly how it would work.
“Let’s see what you’ve got, then!” Link called out as he tossed the cube into the air, throwing a punch that connected with the cube and sent it spiralling a few feet from him. Almost instantly an infectious tune echoed from within the depths of the cube and it dissipated into a shimmering cloud. As soon as the cloud appeared, it coalesced into a pair of red and yellow metal gloves. Each of the mechanical gloves burst into life and rocketed for the boys hands, clasping around them with no input from the Hylian. He smirked slightly, the knowledge of the gloves instantly imparted on him.
Erik had bolted already, by this point, calling all sorts of profanities out at the creature. The panic on his face would serve a comic relief as soon as they were out of this mess. As it turned, following it’s new target, Link outstretched his hands, palms towards the beast. He aimed directly for it’s armor as the gloves whirred into action, a high pitched whine escaping them as the energy within brimmed. Link flexed his fingers slightly and, as if upon command, the gloves loosed a pair of brilliant yellow energy beams erupted from his palms. The beams careened gracefully into the beast’s side, managing to dislodge one of the armor plates covering it’s skin. The boy allowed himself a brief celebratory fist pump before leveling his palm at the beast once more. To his dismay, however, Cenobia had already turned to face the threat and was on a rampant charge.
Link took the strike, unable to escape the huge beast’s path. He was flung to the side and landed in a crumpled heap some ten feet away from where he stood. He rose once more, his right hand placed over his stomach again. He winced, that would smart all too soon. The beast began another charge. This time, however, Link was ready. He used the Repulsor rays from the gloves to launch him out of the way and into a decent enough spot with eyes on the exposed fur and skin. He raised his left palm, right still clutched against his stomach, and a small opening showed itself along the top of the gloves. From within, the head of a small missile, the so called “Ex-Wife”, appeared, whizzing ominously as energy built up within the glove. He needed this to work. It had to. Otherwise he and Erik would surely end up crushed.
The missile erupted from its holding, guided by some mystical force Link couldn’t quite explain, and struck its mark, burrowing deep into the beast’s exposed side.
“Get away from it!” The Hylian yelled out nervously towards his newfound ally, arms raised above his head, a small stream of smoke left hanging in the air.
