Day 1 Morning
#53
Erik felt a welcome burst of relief when Link reached over and shook his hand. It meant that he wasn't alone here, which was one of Eriks burdens lifted. The Hylian seemed to be looking for something, although Erik couldn't quite tell what. Erik cocked his head and closed his eyes, trying his best to sense the pulsing Link had mentioned. At first there was nothing, but then he heard it. Thwump. It was faint at first, barely audible to the psychic, but as Erik drew closer to where Link was searching it grew louder and louder. It was far from cacophonous, but it still had volume to it.
"I think I can feel it..." Erik said, somewhat unsure of himself. He quickly crouched down and starting searching like Link was. Erik had no idea what he was looking for, but knew he would be able to tell when he found it. For a battle to put an ancient hero to rest, this contest had an unusual amount of scrounging through leaf litter.

While searching, Erik could only wonder about the relics. What would they look like? Would he know when he had found one? Would there be something guarding them? That last thought sent a feeling of dread surging through Erik. He hadn't considered that the relics would be guarded. Images of hulking monstrosities obliterating monasteries in Erik's home verse sent shivers down his spine. If he couldn't defeat them with a sword back home, how could he defeat one with a stick? Erik noticed that he had started to hyperventilate so he did his best to clear his mind.
"It's going to be ok, Erik." He silently told himself. "You're fine." Erik did his best to push giant abominations from his mind and focus on the task at hand.

After looking through the piles of leaves for another half hour or so, the pulsing was mockingly close but Erik was starting to think he'd never find the source. Just as Erik opened his mouth to say that he was giving up, Link spoke up.
"I've found something!" The Hylian cried as Erik scrambled over to get a look.
