At even length the shadow melts and fades,
from the moonlit face and e'r pearled fangs.
Unceasing smile splays, it proudly hangs
to welcome the unwary traveler’s trades.
“This is not the world you know.” it chortles,
watching without eyes the fear bewildered
hero wrenched outside their hearth and bed,
What amusement springs of silly mortals.
“I'll be watching, waiting.” darkness returns
again a new prime treads upon the world.
Forth to conquest, and to power furled
their future writ, blazed in starfire burns.
Yet palest face 'pon vast and varied planes
grins on and without questioning remains.
I've been tossing around having the sage compose poetry related to the omniverse, and I decided to try and write one with straight up iambic pentameter (as opposed to the freeverse style whatever-sounds-good-in-my-head I've been using for other works of this nature).
Consensus: iambic pentameter is way harder, but I kinda like it.
I couldn't see the Sage composing one about Omni himself, so I figured I'd post it here so people can enjoy! (if they want. you can also just look at the problems. That's what I do when I look at it.)
...
... Gah I keep changing the wording in that first stanza, I'm just going to post it so I stop obsessing!

If history is to become legend, it first must be recorded.
